Setzer had an unfortunate habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it had gotten him into trouble before. His instinct at witnessing a murder was for his hand to rush to his pocket containing poison-tipped darts, in case this girl wasn’t interested in leaving witnesses.
But she seemed perfectly congenial, if a bit ridiculous with that blanket wrapped around her like she intended to proceeded with the most outrageous walk of shame ever conceived.
Still, what he had seen of the affair suggested it had been a hit, and her apparent lack of inclination to drag him down too only lent credibility to that theory. He wasn’t keen on being added to this woman’s list if she decided that his continued existence wasn’t worth the risk, especially considering how cleanly and brutally she had dispatched her target.
Favors were always a good way to make friends, he knew. Besides, he sort of liked the way she called him ‘honey’.
"I think between us, you’re the one who could use the help right now. You need to get rid of a body? It wouldn’t be my first rodeo." He pulled the cigarette from his mouth for a moment and surveyed the scene. "Or are you trying to send a message by leaving him there?"
"My client wanted me to leave a message. This should be enough. No blood to make a mess of the place, just a broken neck." He certainly was an interesting man, offering to help her hide a body rather than killing her with the weapons he no doubt had. "Though if you really wanted to help me, you could give me your cape, or something to wear so that I could get out of here."
"If not that, then maybe you could give me somewhere to stay for a little bit. As much as I am loath to admit it, that man shredded my clothes and I have nothing to wear other than the very little I am wearing right now." The blanket was sure to draw more attention than she wanted, but she surely couldn't just waltz out of here in her underwear.
