@whumpgifathon | Day 12: "knives" | Stanley H. Tweedle and Isambard Prince/Prince of Fire in LEXX 03x01, "Fire and Water."
It's interesting to me that, despite apparently knowing about almost everything on Earth, Prince seems not to have any sway over the election of "Genevieve G. Rota" as pope-- and probably doesn't even know the cardinals' decision before a reporter announces it. Here's his expression while watching the news (in "Stan Down"):
IMO, he looks like he's recalculating, not celebrating.
He doesn't seem exert any control over her once she's installed in her new position, either. There's no obvious benefit to Prince from her kidnapping of Stan and Priest in "Apocalexx Now." In fact, he has every reason to keep the Lexx's key as far away as possible from the madwoman formerly known as Queen.
Yet he doesn't have her knocked off as soon as she's elected (despite routinely arranging hits on other powerful political figures). He doesn't even intervene to save Priest and Stan after she captures them: Kai saves them, then "Her Holiness" does herself in by rhapsodizing about cannibalism to a carnivorous plant.
I don't have an explanation for any of this, but it does make me think.
