The day after the storm, the first person that Val wanted to see was Isidore. Unfortunately, the fuckers at the chapel wouldn't let her go right away. A doctor had been at the chapel when she arrived (lucky for her), and had administered first aid as best he could but said that she still needed a proper medical care. So the next day, once the storm had passed, she was dragged kicking and screaming to the clinic. She refused to go anywhere near the x-ray machine, but she had acquiesced to a cast and crutches. And the second they let her go, she was out of that clinic as fast as she could move.
Which was frustratingly slow.
She headed straight for Isidore's tattoo parlor, but on her way, she couldn't help but take notice of the destruction the storm had wrought. If the streets flooding hadn't been an indicator of how bad it was, the dent in the Starbeach Cafe where the car had crashed into it certainly was. She averted her gaze as she passed, unable to stomach the memory of the night before.
Finally, she got to the tattoo parlor. Figuring out how to open the door with her crutches was a challenge all its own; it took her twice as long as she should have and she nearly fell over partway through. It was going to be a difficult few weeks. "Isidore?" she called. "Are you here?" After all she'd gone through to get there, he better be, she thought.
