Just One Dance? || Closed

Will was a lot of things; they could be ditzy or silly, and always energetic after loving themselves.. but not stupid. So after he’d interacted with Kitley and the other had turned them down.. Well, of course he was suspicious. Seeing August arrive separate from Kit confirmed it.  It was like he was seeing his Senior Prom play out from a tv style angle they got to watch as it filmed. He’d asked Kitley to do the same thing when he was...well. But Kitley seemed happy nonetheless. Will didn’t want put a damper on the night. 

With a quick shoot of two flutes of champagne back to back, Will put on a happy face again as they saw... “Isla..!” The brunette calls out almost with the same cadence of Cruella DeVille when she says “Anita”. He hadn’t seen her in..the same long span he hadn’t seen Kitley. The exception being that he actually saw Isla first due to her working with him in the same department. Small World Part 2. They could only hope she didn’t fully....hate him. “My Dear Aurora!” Will calls out as he closes the space between the two of them, offering a hand. “Dear, Princess, you look amazing. Look at us with the accidental matchy-matchy..”

Everyone was set in motion; Selwyn-Prewett and Edgar were standing still.

Sitting still, initially, until their frantic heartbeats had forced them to their feet, forced them to pace, forced them to release energy through jittery motions and mindless fumbles of the fingers. It was like being trapped with no way to retrieve and no way to go forward. The others -- their friends, those great people who were willing to give their lives for this shared cause! -- depended on them, gravely so, and yet there was nothing they could do but to watch, to beg there was nothing to do but to watch, as it were especially mistakes that would force them into action, wasn’t it? Nothing to do but to watch the map and wait, patiently, attentively. It was nerve-wrecking. 

Edgar hadn’t questioned the job he had, after suggestions on his side, received, overwatching the whole operation and make sure it unfolded just as planned, was exactly what he was good at. Neither had he however questioned Selwyn-Prewett to be by his side. He trusted her, always had, as it wasn’t in his nature to mistrust people. Everyone was innocent until proven guilty, that was what he lived by. Usually he was good at expressing this ease around those who might feel mistrusted by the Order, but tonight he couldn’t.

He was tense, at his third pipe filling already, fingers white as they cramped around the wood, and not a single smile had reached his lips so far. His gaze was on the map, both too focused and almost glazed at the same time. If he had ever given Selwyn-Prewett an impression of not being welcomed, it was now. By accident and the mere fact that he was too distracted by the job at hand to be handling small talk. After all those years he had grown to relax into the war, to go on with his life even in those dark times, but when it came down to it, when it came to protecting his loved ones, there was always this strained concentration, this hyper-awareness of every little detail not going perfectly to plan. And his jaws were clenched.

High Tea | Isla & Hazel

The Occamy Near Edinburgh @islarcsier

As the weather turned colder and the days shorter, Hazel’s favourite meetings all included tea and - if she was feeling particularly daring - scones. Winter was a time for comfort food and crackling fires and so tea shops were her native habitat.

When it had been suggested that she and Isla should have tea again some time after the first time they found themselves seated by each other, Hazel had been pleasantly surprised when it had manifested in an actual plan. So often when one said ‘we should get tea’ it was only an attempt at being friendly and there were no expectations of actual plans coming about. While she knew of the other girl more than she actually knew her, what interactions they had shared had been pleasant and Hazel was interested in exploring the connection further.

It had been decided that they would have tea at the Occamy near Edinburgh. The tea room might not have been the closest but it was picturesque and unparalleled for the quality of its offerings. And, if they ran out of things to talk about, Hazel could always suggest a visit to the Thumbed Page: her favourite book shop.

“Do you have a tea preference? I am trying to decide whether a pot would be best, or if a cup should suffice.”

Jo moved through the festival with a sense of detachment, her hands stuffed in her pockets as she navigated the crowds. She walked around the booths, more as a way to get some steps in than really being interested in buying anything. Although, she had seen some things she'd been keen to try and do herself. Then, near one of the stands selling caramel apples, she noticed Isla.

It wasn’t a surprise—Kismet Harbor wasn’t that big of a place. Jo didn’t hesitate; she wasn’t one to avoid people. With a steady stride, she made her way over.

Stopping just short of the booth, she spoke up casually, "Hey, Isla. Long time."

While Riley didn't drink on principal, they did enjoy any kind of event that brought the town together. Wine tasting and wine pairings out the question, they still got to enjoy some of the activities and going around the art and crafts stalls was one of them. While not being someone very creative, they liked seeing what other people were capable of making with their hands and their imagination. They'd offered Isla to come take a tour with them. After they'd grabbed some drinks, and Riley had bought a little candle for their flat, they continued walking. "So, any events you're planning to attend?"

Where: The Spring Festival

One person Melisa hadn’t expected to run into in East Haven upon her return was standing in front of her. Isla Ricci. The camera froze in her fingers, staring at the woman who had once been such a vital part of the core group of her friends. But Isla had moved away from East Haven when Melisa fled so she hadn’t known of her return. The last time she had seen the woman had been at the funerals for her mom and Murat. Despite the shock, Melisa couldn’t help but wonder if this reunion would go better or worse than others. Yes, she still had abandoned Isla without a word, but at least she had a life outside of East Haven when it had happened. “I-Isla?” Melisa found herself stuttering out, pensive about how this would go.
