Don’t misunderstand; I know my siblings have their faults. But that doesn’t lessen my feelings for them, nor will anything else. I have been fortunate, that our blood ties are so strong, and so lasting... but isn’t that what family is? A simple, unbreakable bond of the spirit?

That’s what matters. That true connection, unbreakable and strong, is what defines a family, not blood. And that connection... your family... no matter what, that is the most important thing of all. 

Never lose sight of the people that matter most to you... and never lose faith in them. For friends and lovers can leave, but your family will always return to your side if you keep the faith.

Fun Fact about Islyn

It’s like... the rules don’t apply to her.

Thearial shows up to take a dying child to his realm; Islyn’s reaction: “No.” And he turns around and leaves while the child makes a miraculous recovery.

Eiris “Everything in the sea belongs to me”. Islyn swoops in, snags a sailor off the sinking ship, “This one is the sole provider of his family, and he is going home.” AND EIRIS DOES NOTHING.

There’s a fruit in the god’s domain that grants immortality/essentially turns mortals into deities? So Korith says that is must be used wisely, and tests must be given to these “worthy” mortals, and Islyn’s just like... “This is Billy, he’s a mortal child I adopted and he’s going to help govern my temples. Oh, and here’s Patty, she’s a sweet girl, she’s helping me in my gardens forever and ever. And this is Spot, he’s a good boy, and now he’s my eternal good boy, who’s a good boy?”

I understand your siblings love you Islyn, but why are you being so difficult?

*wheelie chairs into your room* So tell me about an oc you might associate with flowers and fields???

Ooh, yes, I have those! Which is… slightly surprising as I tend to have grumps and tomboys and people who would not appreciate those things in my head.

Anyway, the biggest one is probably Gwendolyn; she spends a lot of time outside -like Scarlet- but Gwen loves open spaces and flowers and can take a bunch of wildflowers and make a flower crown in no time at all! It’s where she goes to find some quiet, to doodle a little -things she never lets anyone see- and just relax away from a very… overbearing family. And alone in a field, no one is there to care if she’s a witch; she can just relax.

And then there’s Islyn, who is just the sweetest goddess, and anything flowery is all hers. She loves flowers, and her garden has lots. I mean, she’s got all kinds of herbs and such too, but lots of flowers. Instead of being like… all fancy with a palace (like many of her siblings), her domain is very… homey. Visitors can always find a bed, a warm meal, and happy conversation with her. She also has this little habit of “adopting” orphans/lost dogs/etc and giving them immortality… something her family isn’t too fond of. (She’s also one of -if not the only- of the deities that hasn’t… uh… screwed over a mortal in some way or another.)

My original thought was that Islyn had fallen in love before, and had her little half-goddess/half-mortal babies and just doted on her many-times-great-grandchildren, but no. I was wrong.

This lady’s never fallen in love, never had children; she just plucks out orphans and needy mortals and good dogs and decides they’re her kids now, and that’s the end of it.

Islyn has this habit of taking in orphans and lost children, bringing them away from the mortal world into a realm of her own. The others don’t have the heart to scold her when she’s just trying to help, and everyone is free to leave as they choose, but she’s still a goddess trying to raise a bunch of mortal children.

My oc Ellis loves gardening and flowers because it was the only low energy activity his ill sister could do when they were younger, and now it reminds him of her. btw, I love your ocs, they all sound super interesting, I'd love to hear loads more about them!

Islyn has this huge garden in the realm the gods live in, and it’s the one place all of the deities actually don’t argue in… only because they all adore her -even Eiris- and none of them would risk hurting her by bringing their petty arguments to her place. She spends most of her days -when she’s not answering the prayers that get fewer throughout the years- tending to the garden and listening to her siblings whenever they decide to stop by.
