Hey guys, there was a really strong earthquake in my country. Thankfully it wasn’t near where I live but I still felt it and it was really strong. Reports say it was 7.1 and 7.5 consecutively.

I was scared shitless but I’m alright.

Please explain to me how is helping and wanting to help people that suffered in a natural disaster a political thing. A political thing is the fact that civilians are the ones helping people out of destroyed buildings while the government is standing by, obstructing help by forbidding aid and not using the military or anything to help.

The dictatorship is what caused hospitals to not have supplies even BEFORE the earthquake. Why there’s no centralized rescue teams. Why there’s nothing we can depend on except the goodwill of our neighbors and friends.

This makes me genuinely angry.

I just wanted to say that it’s pretty overwhelming right now to sit down and draw with everything that’s happening in Venezuela. I am currently living in Venezuela and thankfully my area wasn’t affected by the quakes. But still, a lot of people need help and it’s hard thinking about anything else.

I’ll keep working on the commissions I have left and I’ll be donating those earnings to people I know that are currently out there in Caracas and La Guaira (the latter being extremely affected) securing tools, shovels, food and supplies for the people who are being rescued (because civilians are the ones organizing these efforts, the government is standing by, not doing anything)

That being said, I’ll be working at my own pace, and I hope that those who are waiting for commissions will understand.
