It was rare that Mycroft was not good at something, and he was undeniably bad at dancing. He depended far too much on logic and routine to be good at something so fluid. Normally, this wasn't a problem. After all, where would Mycroft be dancing?

Except, he did have a reason now, and that reason was Caesar. With their relationship public knowledge, it meant there was an expectation for Mycroft to be seen by his partner's side, and with an upcoming ball on the schedule, well, now he had to learn to dance, didn't he?

Luckily, he had a good teacher. Mycroft suspected that Caesar's offer to show him the ropes had been strongly influenced by how it would be an excuse for the two of them to get intimately close for a while, but that was okay. If he hadn't been too busy being frustrated by his own lack of talent, Mycroft would have probably felt the same.

"This isn't working," Mycroft declared, sighing dramatically as he pulled away from Caesar, running a hand through his hair and taking a few steps to the side to put some space between the two of them. He just stepped on the other man's toes again. No matter how many times they tried the dance, he just couldn't do it properly.

"Why do we have to do this? Let's just skip the ball. We could have a private evening together instead. Wouldn't that be nicer?"
