I lied.

I was really considering on watching Granbelm, but I gave up on it after learning that one of the characters is beat down SO badly to the point where she dies/ceases to exist/whatever, moments AFTER learning why she was so angry and unhinged.

Like, they gave a magical girl a backstory, a reason for her to be so wrathful and merciless (because she tried her fucking best to live up to her mother's ideals of perfection and excellence, but she didn't gave a fuck about her daughter, no matter how hard she worked), and moments later: oopsy daisy; she's a goner. Like, they only have backstories, so we can grow attached to them, only to get rid of them for the sake of Shock Value™.

It's like what happened to Mami in MadoMagi, to Nijimi in Mahou Shoujo Site, and to so many magical girls in Raising Project.

It's a goddamn curse.

It's basically like this:

You get NO character development, you get NO character development, you get NO character development...

...EVERYBODY GETS NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!
