And thus came the day Taako was dreading and excited for in equal measure: Tuesday evening. “You just can’t have dates on a Tuesday,” Lup was saying, while Taako was too busy digging through the closet to get her to shut up. If she wasn’t literally living in his head, he would’ve banished her from the room hours ago. “It’s the least sexy day. We all know this.” “For sure, for sure,” Barry said. Why Taako had let Barry stick around was anybody’s guess. He really needed better family. Lup just sent him the impression of a grin, and went right back to ragging on him.

Okay, look, I get it - Merle was always supposed to be the one to come up with the Third Option; he was the one who talked to John, he had the clues, he's the Peacemaker, I understand I get it I do

BUT

But Taako being the one to come up with it is what made Lucretia's betrayal worth it

Because for all that Taako tried to find a way to stop the Hunger during the Century, he was primarily concerned with the survival of himself and the other Birds. He wasn't invested in saving the worlds they encountered, because everyone on them was dust

But Lucretia's betrayal changed that. It forced Taako to live alongside the people he didn't care about saving, it forced him to build bonds with those people, because he didn’t know not to

And so he dated Kravitz. He tutored Angus. He handed out macarons for Candlenights.

And those connections, those bonds, are what forced him to think outside of the box. Because suddenly he didnt just care about saving himself and his family, he cared about saving the world. And it was that motivation that led him to come up with the idea that stopped the apocalypse for good. And it wouldn't have happened without Lucretia.

Just. Hhh. Ugh.

I get it, I do, I do, I get it.
