Honestly, the way some people treat that John Mulaney situation is disgusting. 'not in his right mind', 'just an addict and a cheater', 'needs fucking help' are just the milder comments on this issue.
I really do not care about whatever is going on in his life. But the way people call him 'crazy' or 'out of his mind' isn't just disrespectful towards him, but towards anyone who struggles with similar things.
Denying someone the ability to "think clearly" based on your stereotypes against mental illness and addiction is demeaning.
As soon as a person doesn't act the way people think they should, people love blaming mental illness.
It's disrespectful and even harmful. It increases the stigma of mental illness and especially addiction. It frames mentally ill people to be incapable of making the right decisions for themselves.
It doesn't actually matter what is going on in this particular situation. I personally don't care if he cheated or did whatever it is people accuse him of. Regardless of the validity of your accusations, it's really none of your business. But if you must, judge as much as you want to. But fucking stop blaming mental illness for the things you judge him for.
