Reblog if you were on Hermitblr in 2020-2022 and you're still active in the fandom, I want to see who's still around :}
Spinning Grian to draw attention
You don't even realize the absolute insanity of the mental traps that an abusive relationship keeps you in until you've left and been gone for a good while. And I think what's equally important to clarify before I begin is that an abusive relationship can be with anyone, not just a romantic partner. It can be a parent, a friend, a classmate, a coworker. In my case, it was actually a boss at a former job, so my examples will be tailored to that, but it's the same dynamic with all of them.
Looking back at how I justified the most insane thought processes about it, I just want to cry. Why did we tolerate a month or more straight of being treated like garbage to chase the glimmer of hope that they'll be nice to us for a minute or two here and there?In my case (worked at a hospital so we were staffed 24/7/365), I only worked 2-3 days a week with this boss for years, and that time together was enough to form and start the most magical relationship I'd thought I'd ever been in. It only took one day a week of sitting up and talking with her for hours to maintain my high. So tell me why as things went south and she turned and became abusive, I couldn't bear to be away from her EVEN MORE than when things were happy. Tell me why I eventually changed my schedule to match hers and work with her all five days of my week because, in my mind, it would increase my chances of having a good moment with her like what we had at the beginning.
I don't even need to say this, but IT DIDN'T. And why would it? If she was able to be nice to me all 2 days a week we worked together until she stopped, why the hell would she become nice to me 5 days a week when she couldn't even stay nice to me for 10 minutes anymore? But I sure thought she could, and I was consumed on our non-mutual days off by the thought that she was at work just waiting to give me a good day and I wasn't there.
This shit literally makes you crazy. I went clinically insane during this time in my life and literally thought I was the problem until a good year AFTER I left the job (which I did to leave her, and it was the hardest thing I ever did because I loved that job otherwise and I still miss it to this day).
You will completely lose yourself in these relationships, and you'll completely lose yourself again when you leave. I'm only just starting to mostly not regret leaving after four fucking years. It's HARD, but you have to do it because the alternative of staying is so much worse. As much as I still struggle now, I'd either be in grippy sock land or dead right now if I'd stayed, and I remember that as I continue my journey and my healing.
Anyway, I wish all abuse survivors the best week ever, and may our abusers eventually have the lives they deserve. ❤️

The Minato and Ryoji kiss scene on the roof, the family dinner, Minato wanting to kill Ikutsuki, a bunch of scenes in MEML honestly.
In regards to this post.
Aw, thank you!! I'm really glad that Monsters and Magic has gotten as much love as it has, especially since it started out as a passion project that I didn't think many people would like.
