If there's one thing to adore abt DA fandom it's the dedication to criticism 😤 I really do enjoy how deeply DA fans take most things, the discussions on world building, politics, activism, morality
What ☝️ are your thoughts on each Pass On cover so far . I wish to know
tierlist because i can't help myself, it helps me organize my thoughts. more below
1 - Yi Sang
i'm super partial to the poem being included, especially the delivery of it in the vocals. i can't help imagining Yi Sang reading it aloud too
the instrumental choice is also probably one of my favorites. it's soothing but also has a nice texture. i love the bass pitch bend at the beginning and the electric piano... could be a rhodes (i can't recognize these things, idk a thing about music.)
also, the vocals are really good!? like, the final part (especially how "이 밤 이 밤 또 다시 찾아오겠지만" is delivered) really hooks me... i can't not listen to it over and over again.
2 - Hong Lu
does this surprise anyone. anywho~ i love the wind instruments and the light percussion. the strings are also really dreamy in this one. i like the pitch bend on the bass in the first full instrumental bit, the winds really hook me and the guitar sounds so clean...
also i don't think i've talked about the numerous times i get overly excited hearing the voice of whoever is my faves. so if i pay too much attention to this while listening to it i just have to go ueeee... the clock at the end has a really nice texture, and the drone of the wind is also nice. hi Dante
3 - Ryōshū
the PIANO!!!!!!! i really like soft piano songs. the strings on this are even better than Hong Lu's, i just have some partiality to faster mixes... regardless, this one haunts me. the clock ticking, like Dante is singing along... THE LULLABY.... UEEEEE....
4 - Heathcliff
I LOVE THE GUITARS IN THIS..... especially the texture of the non-distorted ones. i just noticed how pale Heathcliff looks in this cg, stopppp.... the guitar solo fucks really hard too, it's heavy but not without a bit of sorrow, like the rest of the song. the ENDING VOCALS ALSO.... aaaaaabh it's so good. it's so good. the clock ticking, it's so good...
5 - Sinclair
their vocals kinda make me giggle, but it really is fitting. i think my friend called them a choir boy while listening to this, i can kind of see it... this and Heathcliff's are somewhat similar, except that this one has less distortion, so the sounds feel a bit more dreamy, though less intense. i just like guitars a lot, especially the thin melody between the vocals... it's very Sinclair.
6 - Ishmael
i like the low strings? and the whale sounds. this one doesn't stand out too much to me, but i still like it. the vocals are pretty soft compared to what we've heard of Ishmael so far, but i still like them. the guitar is also pretty nice, hell yes. the piano is also good, but not as good as Ryōshū's
7 - Don Quixote
pretty good, but a bit too holly jolly for me. i like the brass melody, but not the brass itself. i'd still say it fits Don Quixote a lot and the talking bits tug at my heartstrings a bit. i like the little music-box stuff at the end... and the clock, always the clock... ue.
8 - Gregor
i just need to pause to tell you that i tried to click on Gregor's Pass On to give it another listen and it took me to Hong Lu's instead...
???? hi Hong Lu
once again, good guitar texturing, it's just that nothing about this sticks out to me thaaaat much. the guitar melody in the middle isn't exactly one i favor that much. i do like how Gregor's voice gets at the end... the little sigh and reverse piano is also good.
9 - Rodion
her vocals are quite dreamy, and i think the instrumental resembles Baba Yaga's instrumental a lot, but the unfortunate part about that is that i kind of got sick of that ost on Sinking runs... just give me my fusion... i do like how icy/glassy this sound, though the vocal melody changes kept hitting me over the head. guess it makes sense though. very frosty...
? - Meursault
get back to me in like, 2-3 months about this one
thanks for the ask :^) more reason to talk... if i missed a ticking clock, let me know. my manager #mymanager
