“Do you think it was targeted?”  “I don’t know. They didn’t take anything else besides Velcro. You’d think if they were actually robbing the place, they’d have taken the TV at least, something valuable.” He looks around, noting that everything still seems to be in the same place it was in before he left. Nothing was trashed, nothing was taken.  “They could have taken any dog in the world,” Ian says, “why the hell did they choose this one? No offence, but I mean–” Mandy shrugs. “Maybe they’ll bring him back.”   “I mean, I would.”

“Maybe I’m secretly a really talented DJ.”

Mickey stifles a laugh. “Guess it’s worth a shot. You never know.” 

“I’ll have more time after finals. What would I even need, a computer and some CDs?” 

“Is that really the easiest job you can think of?” Mickey asks. “I’m not saying my love is conditional or anything but I think I’d be less attracted to you.” 

Ian can’t really fault him for that. He gestures up toward the meteor shower, “I mean, this space stuff is pretty cool. I could work for NASA, like as a janitor or something.” 

“These can’t possibly be better options than getting a Masters Degree, Ian.”
