Centerpiece

Prompt: Take something from everyday life that you consider nonsensical or dull, and write about it exaggerating its features.

Exquisite rims of tempered gold and everlasting sterling paint over precious ivory. The lip curls pristine and light with rippled edges akin to glorious waves of an endless ocean. The light reflects rainbows upon the porcelain and fractures pearled glares like solar rays. The piece curves - smooth and pure - to a magnificently rounded base without a single blemish. Along the glorified stand and feathering up the gentle edging are flicks of perfectly executed brushstrokes dipped in scarlet and rose. Among the others, a queen in gilded armor and shimmering within the grasp of a matching plate and clasped in the gentle ridges of mahogany, the figure stands proud and glorious. It is the center piece, an heir to uphold the sloshing drink tempered with smoke upon its surface - heated and velvety. 

It is the teacup; the cure to a cold and an alabaster hand to hold.
