This Month's Trope: 11th-Hour Superpower
We've all seen it happen countless times - the hero is facing his greatest enemy and the enemy seems to be winning. The hero is about to be defeated but then BAM! He's suddenly given a surge of power, perhaps triggered by love or friendship or simply the desire to protect a loved one.
A great example of this would be Goku from Dragon Ball Z. After a long and difficult fight against Freeza, he powers up and goes super saiyan in order to finally beat his enemy and protect everyone he loves!
