Perhaps accepting those seeking refuge from the First Order wasn’t the best idea, seeing as how she had plans to help the Resistance and it would only bring them under further scrutiny, but Rey couldn’t bring herself to turn him away. They could do a check on his credibility later, but even without formal training she thought she could sense his sincerity.
