am 17. I have a dog who turns 13 on April 1st. I have had her since she was a literal puppy. I grew up with her by my side. Today we had a scare. She fell & could not get up. My mom had called for us to come help in a panic but by the time we got there she had managed to get herself up. I have watched her slowly age, & I knew her time was creeping closer, but I didn’t really want to accept it.
When I was 4 she entered my life. My father, two younger siblings, & I wold go camping every weekend at this campground that rented out slots so you could just leave your camper there, it was nice. Well after Bridgette came into or life she joined us up to the campground, every weekend. I slept on the bed that you make out of the table. Yea, you know what I’m talking about. Well Bridgette chose me, out of everyone, to sleep with. From a small puppy that fit so nicely as a ball at my stomach to a large Black Lab that allowed me to use her as a pillow. I watched her grow. She was my first best friend. To this day she is one of my greatest friends. When it snows & we go out to play, I’d get tired. I’d lay in the snow & out of instinct she would lay, almost, on top of me to keep my warm. She never ran away so I never had to put a leash on her. She protected me from strangers who seemed dangerous & jumped in front of dogs who may of brought harm to me. She is my protect & best friend. I honestly don’t know what I am going to do when she passes on. I now she will be better & so happy, but I can’t bear the thought. I love her… am 17. I have a dog who turns 13 on April 1st.
