Oman Trip - part 2
Day 1:
Left Abu Dhabi on Boxing day morning en route to Nizwa, via Al Ain and Ibri. Reached Al Ain in good time and crossed into Oman through the Mezyad border post. No delays and we headed off to Ibri. Not much to see on the way, but the water towers in villages by the road were quite nicely done...
The road after Ibri was a lot more scenic and after a few hours we arrive at Jabrin, to visit the Fort - or 'Jabreen Castle' as it is called on the road signs.
Really good Fort which has been well restored, and was a great place to explore for an hour or so.
Just North of Ibri we reached Bahla, and stopped again at the Fort there. Didn't visit this one, but had a look around the mud-brick buildings next to the Fort. Interesting place, and the Fort looks spectacular.
The sun was setting on the last leg to Nizwa, and made for a spectacular sunset over the mountains.
We reached Nizwa early evening, and after checking in at the Majan Guest House, we explored the Souk in Nizwa Fort and the surrounding town. Dinner was a series of snacks from the food vendors who had set up in the main car park. Nizwa was very atmospheric at night, and has a lot of character.
