i have so many ideas ab this now, and like, what if yuugi was already double jointed/hypermobile?
maybe, before we get all weird body horror bendy, he notices he can stretch a bit more than normal, which makes sense, he's been weirdly flexible all his life. so he doesn't take it as being anything meaningful. but then it's more, and more, and more. his limbs keep growing, stretching from where his other self is slipping out from inside him... idk i think a slower progression, one that (in the beginning) scares him a little..? yes..
also the vague mitosis imagery? love. love. love.
:D ty!!!! and OHHH yugi being double jointed/hypermobile would work SO WELL with the growing new limbs concept!!! especially with creating a sense of doubt in whether or not something is actually wrong.
actually also i would have loved to just…play with the whole flexibility thing more. funny enough the body horror in that fic is very…clean? like yami said. everything coming in where it should. but i love pushing it a bit more than that and i think that came through with the whole back arching thing at the end there lol. in hindsight maybe i should have just went with fucking up their anatomy more from the start but ah well. things to consider for a sequel fic i suppose.
and i agree a slower progression at the beginning would be so good for that kind of transformation…if it had been a concept i gave myself more space to play with instead of speedrunning it in 4 days i would have loved to REALLY slow it down, but alas i already slowed it down to 25k words so that was already a lot for me, particularly since it was originally supposed to be a oneshot 😔
