Marius "Jäger" Streicher headcanons, I may or may not be completely in love with him...
🥃 Jäger is a whisky drinker. It's his drink of choice, no ice needed. He still does drink beer but he'd rather have a glass of whisky than a bottle of beer. (His favourite whiskey is Yellowstone, yes it's absolutely self-indulgent)
🚗 He drives a shitbox. I'm talking like an old ass 80's Buick, or something similar. Though he's definitely partial to German cars (he's a patriot, what can I say), def has a Volkswagen or an Audi. He definitely knows which Audi models are the most reliable. (He drives a Volkswagen Scirocco Mk 2, it's his pride and joy, I don't make the rules)
🎶 Listens to mainly German rock/rock in general. Here's a playlist that I find accurate to my headcanon of his music taste: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/29N16n6eHU6P2hExqaa4xY?si=FFtI6gEKSqW9ZPF36OZINg
🪛 This is based off of canon, but he's 100% a workaholic. His work is his hobby. He literally mentions that spending his time off in the lab is like a dream vacation to him. He feels he needs to be productive all the time, he doesn't really like "relaxing" that much. His time to relax is when he's either learning something new or working.
🖌️ He is insanely good at drawing machinery. He doesn't consider himself to be an artist, but he is really really good at drawing anything mechanical. He draws cars and car engines for fun, he draws his own prototypes and inventions for his patents and blueprints. Expect him to have a notebook full of messy and clean drawings of cars, helicopters, random parts he just felt like drawing. He mainly draws to see things from a different perspective and to learn.
🌯 He doesn't cook for himself often, but when he does it's absolutely delicious. Jäger knows how to cook! He's a banger cook, too. He only has a solid few cookbooks at home that he uses, he always tries something different but it's always from those three books.
i am now here to be horny on main (ty for being so nice ilysm c,:)
could i request day 18 of smutember with jäger?
Any time, friend!
Smutember day 18 - "Movies"
PS it's really hard to find gifs of Jäger???
The movie on the screen is even worse than you had anticipated. Marius had picked it, of course- an action flick that had you yawning with the fist cheesy line.
"Not liking the movie?" he glances over at you and you shrug. The two of you are seated in the nosebleeds of the theater, his favorite spot to get away from the presence of others.
Not that that was necessary, the only other people in the theater are in the front row, deeply engrossed in an argument about the prequel to the film on the screen.
"It's...interesting," you glance over at him and he gives you a mock pout in response, "Sorry, it's just not my type of movie."
"Do you want to leave?" Marius sounds a little hurt and you feel a twinge of guilt in your chest.
"No!" you say it a little too quickly, but hope he doesn't notice, "I just wish it was a little more interesting."
"I could make it more interesting."
Your interest is piqued, curious as to how Marius could possibly make the movie better, "And how would you do that?"
Marius grins as a bright scene illuminates his face, a mischievous smile that you know means he is going to do something you will protest against.
The screen returns to darkness and you feel his hand move, snakelike, over the armrest that separates the two of you. His fingers slide up your thigh and you feel your breath hitch in your throat. You wore one of your favorite skirts today, something he will no doubt use to his advantage.
"Marius-" you hiss his name and he grunts quietly, fingers still working their way up your leg, "This is a terrible idea."
"Don't care," you can hear the grin in his voice and you resign yourself to the risk of getting caught.
His hand finally finds its goal, fingers sliding under the hem of your skirt to find the growing heat between your legs. You bite your lip as he runs a finger along your panties and lets out a dark chuckle.
"So wet already, I think you like this."
Marius slides your panties to the side and pushes one rough finger inside you, leaning across the arm rest to swallow your moan with a kiss.
"We have to be quiet," he murmurs against your lips, "Can't get caught."
Another finger slips into you and you let out a shaking breath, gripping the seat for purchase as Marius sets his pace, fucking you with his thick fingers until you're panting quietly in the dim light.
Another bright scene flashes across the screen and you try to pin your legs together, but he shoves them apart once more with a grunt.
"Marius-" he cuts you off with a kiss, and his thumb rolls across your clit, pausing to flick gently at the nerves until you nearly come out of your seat.
He's good at what he does.
Even in the field, Jäger, as the other operators call him, moves like a well-oiled machine, deft fingers and sharp mind solving every problem that lobs itself at him.
Here in the dark theater is no different- Marius has you coming apart at the seams with every move of his expert fingers. He knows when you are going to be loud, silencing you with kisses and bites.
He knows you so well. Knows exactly how to have you at his mercy, even here where so many prying eyes can see you.
"Come on, that's it," his voice is quiet in your ear as he feels you tighten around his fingers, "Cum for me."
You do as he commands and he misses his chance to quiet you, wincing when you moan and throw your head back against the wall behind you.
So much for secrecy.
The people in the front row shift uncomfortably in their seats.
Marius doesn't care- he pumps his fingers gently until you gasp and shove him away. By now, you're panting, staring at him in the darkness until another bright scene illuminates his face.
sm: it started off work friendly with honest attempts … truly, but who could really blame you.
ft: mute, lion, jager, thermite
a/n: it started off with finally seeing lion’s face and spiraled to this. im sorry. (signed a spiteful lion main in ranked)
MUTE never liked you at first. you were too socially inclined, too friendly, too loud. sure you knew when to shut up during an operation, but off the field? he knew more than he wanted about your personal life.
where you vacationed as a kid.
your favorite color.
the name of the family cat who bit you-
actually what was its name again?
a rough, but firm hold takes grip of your hair, fisting you away from the sheets you’d ruined with your sobbing. the room was once again brought to life by the sounds of you. a beautiful symphony to the orchestra of his hips smacking against the back of your thighs and the bed creaking beneath your combined weight.
“that stupid cat you hated, what was his name again?”
your brow pinched, eyes barely visible between tight lids as you grit your teeth against the onslaught of his undulations.
poor thing.
a sharp hiss broke through your warbled cries as he jerked your head back again, lips heating your ear as he repeated the question. it was the most sensitive, sensual interrogation you’d ever experienced.
the worst part is, he knew how difficult of a task it was for you when you got so deliriously drunk on the feel of him. shame that such a trained operative could be reduced to such a mess.
the worse than that, was that you weren’t even sure what awaited you on the other side of his question.
would he reward you or was this just a taste of another game ?
the next thrust was so deep that it kissed your sanity.
“samson!”
who knew that damned cat would still haunt you in the afterlife.
mark released you and you fell back against the damp sheets. his hips slowed to an almost inquisitive pace as his calloused thumb caressed your back. his hardness remained uncaring to the sensitive stretch of your walls.
“you told me about the time you got lost in monaco once, remind me again. ”
if you’d known then how those mindless attempts to bridge the gap would have brought you to this head-
maybe you would have told simpler stories.
THERMITE had to have thought long and hard about this prior. practically planned the whole trip around this moment. you’d been to distracted to notice the signs, consumed with impressions and meeting his family. for what it was worth, jordan was an exceptional actor and organizer.
he disarmed your tension with light touches, slowly unraveled your nerves by guiding you from one conversation to the next.
at the end of the night, you were too grateful to notice the way he eagerly lead you to his childhood room after the talking settled. too wrapped up in kisses to acknowledge the way he had you stripped and bare before you’d even got his shirt off.
“fuck… been dreaming about this.”
jordan was a man possessed and drunk off the sight of you splayed out on his sheets. his parents had since transformed his old room into guest quarters. gone was the old furniture but the memorability and ambiance remained the same. he’d gotten you here and that was all that mattered.
he regretted that he couldn’t paint the walls with your cries of pleasure, but the visual of you twisting the sheets with both your mouth and fist- desperate not to ruin the moment by getting you caught.
well that would just have to be his prize.
what a settlement.
his thumbs eased circles onto the roundness of your hips, a loving caress before those same blotched fingers pinched and pulled against the fat to draw you back harder into his thrusts. your quiet whimpers really were nothing compared to the creaking bed and lewd smacks.
but jordan really couldn’t give a shit. he was home and he was going to enjoy it.
LION didn’t want to like you. he had enough on his plate, plenty of the past to still work out. so much of himself to evaluate and improve. and his son.
his mother may have moved on, introduced a new figure into their child’s life but that didn’t mean olivier was ready.
and neither were you to be honest.
you both lived lives that weren’t promised. today could be monday, but that didn’t mean you were guaranteed a tuesday. it was even harder to enjoy the ones that you did, or at least the parts that weren’t gunfire and claymores.
this wasn’t about love or it settling down.
it was a means to end to cut through the carnage.
so you don’t think about wedding bells and nights in front of the fireplace what the flat of his palm presses you down between your shoulder blades. the man knows he’s big, which is why he takes you this way, always leaning back to watch your thighs spasm and shake. you’ve caught him on more then one occasion watching entranced as he slowly slides into your sex.
it’s not emotional sex but there are a lot of print up ‘emotions’ driving the heat of it. you’ve convinced yourself that it’s completely normal to seek each other out blindly after a mission, utilizing any empty room or surface. despite denying the underlying whatever it was building, it was surprisingly easy to ignore the commonplace forming between you.
evident in the way the two of you stand comfortably side by side. shoulders brushing without acknowledgment. a few brows raise but no one says anything.
especially him when he holds you close in the early threads of the morning, sweat slicked and sticky with come. you’re drowsy and in no position to get up and leave. he slips his softening cock nestled within you, if only to remind himself of why he’s here.
JAGER believes in all or nothing. he lacks to social grace to risk tiptoeing through fragile ‘labels’. he’d make a terrible ballerina anyway. it’s not as if he’s looking to settle per say, but he’s old enough to appreciate living this long in his career. when he accepts you into his bed, only you know it’s warmth and the way one pillow is noticeably flatter than the others.
marius is a tentatively tender lover at first. learning where to touch and how to grab. he’s throughout, though, leaving you sated with just his fingers and cock.
but he’s a thinker, inquisitive on all the ways something can be improved and you’re no exception. the first time he puts his mouth on you? marius nearly had to tap out against your thighs as they constricted around him.
his tongue had no business being that good. and that boyish, knowing grin … he would be your premature death. he makes quite an effort to get you to be the one to tap out. waist squirming against his hold as he alternated between kitten licks and swipes of his thumb against your sensitive hole. the man had mapped you out entirely, aware of the slightest edge needed to make you crumble.
he isn’t a very vocal lover, but he grunts appreciatively whenever you tug his hair or meeting him just right on on a downward thrust. thoroughly enjoys kissing you, sliding his mouth from your lips to your neck and back again. never seems to lose breath despite his pace as he imprints his taste against your tongue.
for someone who holds his words, the man is very good with his mouth.
i saw your list for the r6 boys and can i just say, you have impeccable taste!!! and gosh i've been scrolling through your blog for a while now. i love everything you write!! for my request: i'd love any general jager relationship headcanons if you've got any! love ya!
I- 🥺💕 Gosh darn y’all are so dang sweet like honey😭 Jager is my baby, something about him is so precious even though he’s like what? 38? But I digress😂 Also listening to lana Del Rey while writing this is a whole other ball game
💖For sure Marius is tinkerer kind of person. Beside the house he has his own little place where he can make his gadgets and just mess around. Although sometimes he forgets and leaves them in the house, which makes you walk over to his shed standing there in the doorframe watching him panic because he “lost” said object. Marius will chuckle and give a quick kiss before taking his gadget back and offer you a place if you would like to stay
💖Sometimes the both of you with be out there goofing off doing who knows what. But honestly, he loves that you wanna be out there with him. He‘s a person that loves to spend quality time with somebody and he wouldn’t trade it for the world. And if you love to tinker as much as him? You better bet that is where you’ll mostly likely be all day, possibly all week depending of the project.
💖Jager isn’t necessarily quiet as some people think he is. He picks and chooses who he wants to associate with, you just happened to be the winner. However, in the beginning he was a very shy bean. His voice softer than usual and a lot more fidgety when defending with you.
💖Even though he loves quality time, he also loves physical affection too! At night depending on how his day went, jager is very much cuddly. He doesn’t care if he’s big or small, he just wants to be near and touching you.
💖Marius is a bit goofy. He has his moments. Isn’t the best dancer but will be cheesy and slow dance with you.
💖Typically Jager calls you libeling. It’s cliché I know, but he thinks it just fits, well you. He isn’t really all about the whole cutesy nicknames, but will throw maybe one or two out of the blue. Yeah he’s a bit shy near you, he’s trying, really trying.
💖Some days are rough and can easily be known by the look in his brown eyes. Pulling him into a hug is the easiest way to fix it. Just to feel you wrap yourself around him is good enough to release the tension he was feeling.
💖Loves to cuddle on the couch. To be all snuggled up on the couch with blankets over on top along with snacks with a good movie playing. He’d do anything to be there.
💖What always makes smile is when you’re laying on the couch and open up the blanket to him so he can crawl under with you. (I’ve seen too many videos of this and it’s so dang cute)
💖Sometimes he’ll speak German instead of English. If you understand German than no Biggie! However if you don’, he’ll apologize and restate what he said so you can understand. Of course with him speaking another language, he’d be over the moon if you took it upon yourself to learn to speak as well as write.
💖When he has to leave early, jager will leave a small yet adorable note by the bed saying he’ll be home later. He hates to worry others and makes sure you know what’s going on when he’s not around. There’s always a heart on top of the note and at the very end.
💖Remember when I said he sometimes leaves his gadgets and can’t for the life of them think of where it is? He’ll do that sometimes with his helmet as well. There’s just too much going on up in his head because of all the projects he’s constantly thinking about and the new ideas. He swears he has no idea how he’s managed to live without you. Always making sure he has the things he needs and perocially bring him food because he forgets to eat when tinkering.

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3
You check your phone, looking at the museum tickets Marius had sent you. You had insisted you could pay for your own, but he fought you on it, so you let it be. You get a notification from him, which just says "on my way". This behaviour wasn't out of the norm for him, he had always liked to take care of you in a way.
You stretch and look at yourself in the mirror, making sure you look presentable. You straighten out your clothes and put on your shoes, making sure you have everything on you that you might need. For once you feel nervous, and you're not sure why. I mean, it's still the same Marius, your best friend of many years. Nothing's changed, right? You shake your thoughts away, in denial at this idea.
You pat your pockets, checking for your wallet, house keys and phone. Right on time, you hear his car pull up in your driveway. You exit your house, locking the door behind you, and walk towards his car. It's a nice, well maintained Volkswagen Scirocco Mk 2. His pride and joy. He reaches over the center console and passenger seat uncomfortably to lower the window. He looks silly bent over like that and a chuckle escapes you as the window lowers.
"Schatzi!" He admires you discreetly, and you don't notice at all. "You didn't have to lower the window like that." You teased. He looks away for a second before looking back at you with a dumb grin on his face. "Well, it was getting hot in the car so..." He shrugs. You open the passenger side door and sit in the seat, closing it behind you. It wasn't warm in the car at all. "Warm? Your car's at 20 degrees right now." You point out as you look at the center console.
"Warm to me, Liebe." He clears up. You don't really know if he's lying or not. You roll the window up. Though he's smiling a lot, he seems more nervous than usual. His fingers are tapping on the steering wheel, and he's looking around and checking his blind spots more often. He's an adept driver, that much you know, it's strange he seems so on edge right now.
He's humming to the tune on the car stereo, a tune in German you don't quite recognize. Though you listen to the beat and the tone of it, and it seems almost like a love song. Regardless, you pay no mind to it, and instead choose to bask in the music and enjoy the ride. It's not long before you find yourself in the parking lot of the museum, walking towards the main entrance.
"The new exhibit seems very interesting! It goes into more detail about the planets and stars farther away in our galaxy. I saw there were solar systems with multiple suns." He starts to ramble and his hand brushes yours. You hadn't realized how close you were walking to him. He stumbles in his words when he feels your skin against his, before quickly catching himself. "It uhm-uh- it's, you know, interesting how the uh gravity field must work."
You both get to the entrance and he hands the tickets to the person working at the desk. "Where to first?" You pipe up, wanting him to lead the way. You had always liked seeing Marius nerd out over stuff. He always had something new to say, something he'd learned recently or something he just remembered. He also had a bad tendency of telling you stuff he had already told you. "The dinosaurs." He looks back at you and takes a deep breath before looking forward again and walking, making sure you were following.
You were by his side, not wanting to lose him even though the museum was practically empty. There were a few people, some kids running around, but apart from that it was relatively quiet and calm. To his disappointment, your hands were tucked away comfortably in your pockets as you walked. He decides to focus on just walking with you, making sure to walk so close your arm bumps into his. "Oh, sorry." You apologise as you bump into him, completely missing his slight frown when you step away from him to avoid being too much in his personal space.
You continue to walk, making sure he's following you by looking over at him and smiling when you see him. You notice his face is a little flushed. "Everything okay, Marius? You seem a little hot." You point out, briefly looking at his hands before looking back at his face. He seems surprised by your question, and he brings a hand to his face to feel his cheeks. "I'm fine. Just, yeah, a little hot." He tried to play his blush off. The last thing he wants to tell you is that every time you smile, his stomach flips.
He looks away from you and grabs his collar, gently fanning himself by moving it. You observe him for a second, a bit confused. "You know you could just take off your shirt, right?" He pauses for a second. "...I could." He concedes, but he doesn't make any move to take off his crewneck. "My body will even itself out." He shrugs. What the hell was that supposed to mean? You weren't gonna argue with him, however. He'd always been a bit hard headed when he was uncomfortable in one way or another.
You dismiss his stubbornness, knowing the heat he was feeling was probably making him a bit annoyed. You both finally got to the dinosaur exhibit, and you seem to notice tension completely leaving Marius' body as he walks quickly to a dinosaur skeleton. You hadn't noticed he had been so tense, but you were happy he seemed to relax quickly. "Schatzi, come quick! It's a Giraffatitan!" Any awkwardness is gone from his tone as he skims over the text near the skeleton. "They thought that they were brachiosauruses, but there were such major differences in their bones that they had to make a new genus for them."
"The differences were so small but still so significant they deserved their own genus. Isn't that cool? At first, it only had its own subgenus." He continues, looking back and forth between you and the skeleton. You stifle a chuckle, smiling at him. "Yeah, I didn't know that. Tell me more." His smile falters a little as he looks at you. The way you're smiling is making him melt. "Oh, ja, ja so brachiosauruses were..." He starts to ramble as he constantly looks between you and the skeleton, gauging your reaction to his facts, but when he sees you're paying all your attention to him, he starts stuttering.
"So uhm, you know, ja." He finishes awkwardly, before moving to different dinosaurs shown in the museums. You follow him obediently, making sure to stay close so you can read what's written in front of the exhibited pieces before he explains it to you. "The Herrerasaurus is pretty cool too! It's the only species in its genus." Marius starts up again. "It would have been very fast. You see it's leg bones over there?" You nod and hum in response to everything he says.
He starts to explain its biology, his hands moving a bit frantically. He mimics the bones with his hands, miming the movements. He's so animated, you find it endearing. You follow him as he speaks, always having little facts and fun tidbits about the dinosaurs you both crossed. "The Diplodocus is also pretty cool, it also might have lived at the same time as the Allosaurus." He seems proud of himself, of how much he knows. He would be lying to himself if he said he didn't like the fact he had all of your attention.
You're looking at him the whole time he's talking, and his cheeks have been red the entire time. You don't understand why he hasn't taken off his hoodie yet, since he seems to be sweating a bit. His hands are a bit more frantic than usual as he explains, nearly hitting you as he turns his back to you to show you something. He's clearly not paying too much attention to his surroundings, just focusing on telling you all he knows about dinosaurs.
He looks at you again, a big smile on his face when you both exit the dinosaur exhibit. "Did you like it? Did you find it interesting?" He asks excitedly, walking by your side. He's got that look in his eyes, that little sparkle that tells you he's enjoying himself a lot. He gets like that around you a lot, you think. "Yes, Marius." You reassure him with a chuckle, and you see him visibly relax when you speak. "I really don't know how you remember so much stuff like that." You're smiling at him, and he swears his heart just skipped a beat.
"Are you impressed?" He asks, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. He smiles sheepishly, not quite knowing if you're complimenting him or not. "Yes, very. Your memory's impressive." His smile widens, now much more at ease. "I always have more where they came from." He speaks happily, walking by your side. He notices your hands are no longer in your pockets, so he looks down between your hands and face, as if asking permission to take your hand.
You don't notice, however, instead you just point at the space exhibit. "Next! You got any fun facts for me this time?" You put your arm back down to your side and he deliberately tries to lock his pinky with yours, but you move your hand and his pinky only brushes yours. "Ja, I do. I know less about space than dinosaurs though." He chuckles awkwardly as you both walk into the exhibit.
The exhibit is darker, the walls littered with glow in the dark stars and different drawings of planets. The atmosphere is instantly more intimate, the low lights and soft music a stark contrast to the lights in the dinosaur exhibit. Marius glances between your hand and face again, before just deciding to commit and he takes your hand in his, dragging you to a part of the exhibit he seems to know. It catches you off guard and your hands start to sweat a little from the heat of his on yours.
You allow yourself to be dragged away by his hand, but the moment you both reach the part of the exhibit about meteors, you let go of his hand, feeling that yours was becoming too sweaty. You wipe your hand discreetly on yourself, not noticing his disappointment when you let go. "Meteors are cool too, did you know that the colour of the trail that they leave in the sky tells you what they're made of?" His tone sounds a little less exciting than earlier, but he still gets in your personal space, brushing his hand against yours as though he was testing the waters again.
As he explains, he seems a little less upbeat but the longer he goes on, the more he shakes off his disappointment. His pinky grabs yours, and since the space exhibit is busier, you realize he might not want to lose you in the crowd. So, you keep your finger intertwined in his, and it seems to lift his mood significantly. His finger tightens around yours as he leads you around, telling you facts and reading the descriptions on the plaques. He slowly moved his hand to hold yours in a tighter grip, not minding the fact that your hands were very sweaty.
You don't pick up on his pulse, or on the way he stutters a little when you look up at him and your grip tightens on his hand. Every time you let go of his hand to wipe the sweat off, he immediately reaches for it again, without looking at you. The museum only grows more and more crowded, so you actually like holding his hand, not wanting to lose him.
You both finally exit the exhibit, and you let go of his hand, since the crowd is less thick outside. He stretches, before turning to you. "Is there any other exhibit you wanted to see?" You shake your head, checking the time. "No, I'm getting hungry though. We should get dinner." You mention as you both walk towards the gift shop. "Together?" He asks immediately, a smile gracing his face. "Yeah, of course! We might as well. I just need to go to the washroom first."
You walk away from him and head to the washrooms to do your business. As you check yourself out in the mirror, you fix your hair. You never really cared about your appearance around him before, considering you had both seen each other at your worst, but now you were a little worried he'd notice if you didn't look your best. He'd been acting so strange lately. You were already used to all the touching, to him coming over whenever. It felt a little strange, that he was acting so formally around you, but you brushed it off.
You walk out of the washroom, brushing your clothes with your hands, making sure they are straight. He spots you exiting and walks up to you, a proud smile on his face. "I'm here, we can-" You cut yourself off when you notice that he's hiding his hands behind his back. "What are you hiding?" You ask suspiciously, looking up at him. "You have to guess." He replies in a cheeky manner.
You think for a second, before a smile grows on your face. "Oh, you bought me something, didn't you?" His grin is wide as he pulls the thing out from behind his back. "Yes." The gift in question is a triceratops plush, the soft kind he knows you like. The way your eyes lit up when you look at the plush, then at him make his heart skip a beat. You take the plush from him in a hurry, hugging it tightly to test the softness. You let go of it and you can't help yourself from chuckling at the surprise.
"Thank you Marius." You pull him into a tight hug, and he's surprised at first, but relaxes into it after. He hugs you back, burying his face in the crook of your neck. He doesn't want to let go. In this hold, you can feel his heartbeat and it's going insanely fast. You try to pull away, but he holds you a little too tight and you can't really move. You get the message, he wants to hug you a little longer.
He finally lets you pull away, and you swear you've never seen you've never seen him this happy or flushed in your life. "Are you okay?" You hold in a laugh. "Ja, I am. I'm just having a good time. We should do this again too, ja? Bitte." He wants to take your hand again, but you're holding the plush with both so he doesn't. Instead, you both start walking side by side to the exit. "I'd love to. You know I always love doing things with you." He had never asked please to do something with you, but you didn't mind.
As you walk outside next to him, it starts to snow. The snow starts to coat his hair and yours, the individual snowflakes visible on it. The cool air is refreshing, the perfect thing after a day of walking around in a museum. Marius looks at you as you both walk to the car, and though you know him very well, you have no idea what's going through his head right now. You have no idea his heart is beating that hard for you.

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3
This is still not proofread! Criticism is welcome, and I do take requests for this fic :)
Your front door opens, the creaking of the hinges resonating through your house. The sounds of a person taking their shoes off can be heard from upstairs. You peek over the railing of the first floor, only to spot Marius. He has his bag slung over his shoulder, and a tool case and a big black unmarked case on the floor.
He lets his bag fall to the floor, and with everything else he's brought, you realise he's come here to work. He sighs and looks around the kitchen, before picking his things back up and heading to his office, a spare room you had let him set up shop in since he was over so often.
He closes the door behind him, without even saying hello to you. Your curiosity is piqued as you slowly go down the stairs and through the kitchen to get to his office. You sneak your way to his door, not wanting to alert him to your presence, and carefully lean your ear up against it.
You can hear him unpacking his work, the metal of his tools clanging on the wooden desk and the small, ambient music coming from his bluetooth speaker. He sighs as he starts to work, or you assume so as you can hear the soft sounds of him putting his screwdriver down to pick up something else, something that sounds heavier. You've always loved watching him work. It's one of the things in life you find calming.
You wonder if he'll mind. He didn't say "hi" like he usually does, and that worries you. You push those thoughts away and head to the kitchen to make him some coffee, assuming he's tired. The coffee machine starts with a soothing hum, and you take out a mug for him.
The machine fills the cup with coffee, and you add cream and sugar to his liking. You pick up the cup and carefully head back to his office, making sure not to spill anything. You open the door slowly, to find Marius completely engrossed in his work.
He doesn't notice you, keeping his head down and biting the end of his pen. He is focused as he leaves the pen in his mouth and adjusts a few screws on his project. He takes the pen out of his mouth and writes down a few notes, before sighing and stretching. He taps his pen on his desk twice before flipping his project around.
"Marius." You call out softly, approaching him from behind. He tenses up before immediately relaxing and turning to look at you. "Schatzi! I didn't know you were home." He fidgets with his pen, twirling it in his hand absentmindedly. He puts his hands on his thighs, discreetly wiping them before clearing his throat. "The house was so quiet so I wasn't sure..."
You hand him his coffee and he quickly takes it, avoiding touching your hands with his as he does so. "Yeah, I was just reading upstairs." You explained as you leaned forward on his desk. He leans back against his chair, putting some distance between the both of you. "Can I watch you work?" Your question makes him hesitate, and he looks behind him for a second before looking back at you.
"Uhm. Okay, just, don't get too much in my personal space, ja?" He jokes as he drops his pen on the floor. He sighs and slowly bends over to pick it up. As he goes to pick it up, he accidentally pushes it away from him and just looks at it for a solid few seconds. He bends over to pick it up, but you've already beaten him to it.
You swipe it from right under his nose and for a second, your face is so close to his he thinks you might put him out of his misery and kiss him. But you don't. Of course you don't. Instead, you back up after putting his pen back on his desk and smile at him. You turn away to drag a chair next to him so you can watch him work.
The silence is tense, at least to him, and the only thing filling the silence being the soft music playing in the background. He should not be blushing like that around you. He's pushing 40 for fuck's sake. Why is his body reacting to you like he's in high school again? His heart is beating hard when he feels you lean in close to him to see his work better and he hates it.
He decides to act like you're not there, like your presence doesn't bother him. Like every time you smile at him or touch him it doesn't make him a little more scared of dying on the job. It's beyond frustrating for you to always be so god damned close to him, for it to not affect you like it affects him.
He's so focused on ignoring you, he doesn't realize he hasn't been working for five minutes. You don't know why he's just frozen in place like this, his screwdriver just hovering over his personal project, even though he doesn't even need to screw anything in. "Marius." You call out softly, trying to keep yourself from chuckling at just how distracted he is. He nearly jumps out of his skin as his grip tightens on the screwdriver and he seems to notice he hasn't been working.
"Ja?" He doesn't look back at you, and you think he's just trying to focus up, not noticing the fact that his cheeks are bright red. "Explain what you're doing right now. I'm confused." Oh God. You're smiling when you ask that, and you don't realize he can hear it even though he's not looking at you. "Oh, ja, I can do that." He takes a deep breath and finally starts explaining. His words are a bit rushed, not the usual calm, passionate cadence you're used to.
"Essentially, I'm trying to lessen the resistance so it takes a minimal amount of power to work. I'm worried I might have wired the circuit wrong though." He explains as he puts his screwdriver down with the rest of his tools and starts looking at the different wires on the circuit board. "So, see, here the power should be of 110 watts but it doesn't seem to output enough to turn on my test bulb."
The more he explains, the more you can see his shoulders relax and hear his cadence slow. You admire him really, the expertise with which he navigates around his circuit, the confidence he has working with such complicated objects. His passion for his work is palpable, and he gets so into his work he's not realising you've slowly been getting closer and closer to him to get a better angle on what he's been doing.
His hands work expertly with the small wires as he explains everything to you. He talks a little fast, making it tough for you to understand everything he says but you enjoy listening to him regardless. He always waits for you to confirm you've heard what he said before he continues. You miss small cues. Like how his grip seems to tighten on the tool he's using every time he feels your breath on the back of his neck. How every time he notices your closeness, he trips over his words.
You watch him attentively, absorbing whatever information you can understand. He starts to trail off, focusing more on the equations he's trying to solve. He taps his pen on his desk as he thinks, and you try to solve it in your head to see if you can help him.
"Liebe." He calls out suddenly as he looks at you. He's still tapping his pen on the desk absentmindedly as you hum in response. "Hm?" You tilt your head slightly to actually look at him. He looks away for a second, before you hear him sigh and he looks back at you. "You wanna go to the museum later this week? There's a, uhm, cool exhibit they've just added on planets, you might like it."
You don't answer as you try to think of when you're free, but your lack of answer seems to make him follow up on his question quickly. "You know, just uhm, you and me.." His voice trails off awkwardly. It's nothing out of the ordinary for the two of you to do things one on one. He's your best friend after all. You pull your phone out to check your calendar. "Friday?" You ask him curiously.
His face lights up immediately. "Ja, ja, I can pick you up too." He seems almost too eager that you have accepted his offer. You're not sure why, but you're happy he's not so tense anymore. You miss how his pen tapping on the desk has gotten quicker, how he now seems to have a smile plastered on his face, the way he completely relaxes now that you've said yes.
Your phone rings, breaking the moment. "I have to take this." You grimaced at the sight of your boss calling you. "Of course of course." Marius replies, and you finally notice how brightly he's smiling. You leave his office, answering your phone, and he closes his office door after you exit. You've just missed how he celebrated quietly in his office, and how he nearly knocked his project off his desk because of his celebration.
His happiness is contagious, you think. You yourself feel giddy and you're not sure why. You briefly look back at his office door as you talk to your boss, before focusing back on the heated conversation over the phone, still completely unaware of how he'd travel to the ends of the universe if it meant he could just be with you.
Sorry for a slightly shorter chapter! I'm really busy with college so I haven't had as much time which is why I took so long (also had writer's block haha) I hope you guys enjoyed it!
