Kom'rk and Jaing at the clones-only social function Mereel forced them to go to. But they're wearing these and Jaing also has a backpack leash on so it's harder for him to leave or go stand in the corner like he usually does. Cumulatively, the effect is like a scary dog privilege type thing. So there's Jaing absorbed in his tablet doing the world's most complex hacking operation to scrape some database halfway across the galaxy and he is like wow I'm pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to be here, why hasn't anyone tried to talk to Kom'rk - and by extension me - yet. And he looks up and discovers there is a five meter radius of cleared space around them and Kom'rk is sipping his drink with an incredibly content expression. "Are you fucking using me to ward off conversation cause you're feeling antisocial?" "Like lighting a banthadung pile on fire to ward off the dhuru flies, ner vod. I should have bought these six months ago."
Hey! I'm still alive and still drawing! Today I decided to join Inktober because why not. Here's young Makke exploring ocean for the first time in her life. Don't worry, unlce Mereel and uncle Jaing are nearby to keep an eye on her.
- His account is the unofficial second account of Mereel which he has public only because he doesn’t know how or care to change it to private
- As you could guess, he didn’t make the account and rarely uses the app other than to follow his fellow Nulls and a few others he’s become close with
- There’s many comments in his videos about how they thought this was not his actual account because all videos are of when he’s with Mereel mostly
- The most popular you video is of course starring Mereel; said video shows Ordo laughing with Jaing as Mereel is in the background cussing and yelling that this is the wrong color, then flipping to Mereel trying to savage his hair that is splotched with orange (it’s one of the few videos you see Ordo on screen in his own account)
——————
Mereel:
- As soon as he heard about it, he downloaded it and started posting publicly immediately
- He likes making videos more when he’s with his brothers than alone, it feels more fun when he’s laughing with them than at himself alone
- His videos are a cluster of nonsense; one he’ll be playing with face paint, another he’ll be teaching stuff he’s learned, the next he’ll be raving about food, but most he’s being a goofball with brothers
- One of his most popular videos feels out of place compared to the rest; he just put on the camera and is about to film something but sees Prudii walking in the background. Mereel abandons his video but the camera is still rolling, showing the brothers running and embracing after not seeing each other for a long while
——————
Jaing:
- Got it after Mereel sent him some videos to watch, then began posting after thinking it looked fun
- He likes posting videos of fun facts specially targeted towards his brothers who might need it and tries to be creative as he delivers these facts; it’s basically a series called “What They Didn’t Teach You on Kamino” with the most popular sub series being on Women
- He has a couple edits he’s made posted too, they’re snippets of him hanging out with his brothers set to some popular songs (he’s done a couple tutorials of how he made them)
- The video he loves that isn’t necessarily his most popular is a blooper; he is carrying Mird on his back and Mird curiously sniffs the camera before stealing it from Jaing’s hand, then the strill runs while Jaing chases after Mird laughing
——————
A’den:
- At first he protested getting the app, but his brothers broke him and he made a private account (he’s not too picky about who follows him, but prefers his brothers over random civilians)
- His use on the account is limited, but he does post some videos. Mostly of the scenery and the wildlife he’s encountering across the galaxy
- He gets more into it the more he uses it, but his best videos are when he’s hanging out with the other Nulls, or any clones for that matter
- His favorite video is pinned to his page; he’s behind the camera as the Nulls all excitedly run on a playground late at night, and cuts to them acting like kids racing down slides, seeing who can go the highest on the swings, struggling with monkey bars because they’re too tall, and spinning around on a merry-go-round (captioned: “The Republic’s Finest” and it also became a trend with #republicsfinest)
——————
Kor’mk:
- While he does have the app and it’s set to public, he does not post
- He spends hours on the app watching all sorts of videos, but when it comes to him being on camera he’s a little shy
- You can tell which one he is when you see him in his brothers’ videos, he’s always shrinking away trying to get out of the shot or being awkward when he does agree to be in their videos
- His biggest interactions on the app is commenting or liking videos, and he is very guilty of spamming his brothers’ messages with videos (Jaing got 63 Tik Toks in one day)
——————
Prudii:
- Like Kor’mk, he’s a little camera shy but he can push past it, which is why his account is private and only followed by strictly other clone troopers
- While he doesn’t really post, he enjoys watching the silly videos and laughing at his brothers from all the different legions and squads, and he comments a lot
- In a way, he’s found he’s little bit like a celebrity/meme to his brothers, which he finds hilarious since he feels like the forgotten Null (“If @justprudii05 comments I’ll buy the next round of drinks”)
- His favorite video out of the couple hundred he’s posted is when he was on Kamino; he was just visiting and making a quick story time reminiscing about the chaos he use to cause when a bunch of young cadets start yelling “hi” to him and it starts a whole train of everyone just jumping in to say “hi” and he forgets what he was even talking about before
(Hint for all of these: the more I ramble the less confident I am in my grasp of a character. Jaing especially is like...I have this extremely consistent image in my head of who he is but actually breaking down WHY I have him that way is extremely hard and it doesn’t come out quite right. He’s still in the early soup stage. Canon scenes and general impressions have yet to dissolve and mix together into something coherent, which is why here you have this chunky, gloopy mess. He’s not done! Put him back on the stove!)
First impression : Gloves. Out of a person.
Impression now : Still Did That. But, like...He’s complicated, all right? He had to make that leather. He had to make those gloves. That is an involved process? He spent days at least neck deep in that particular activity, and I am NOT sure how to take that, because on one hand, of course, yikes, that’s worse than just a crime of passion, but on the other this...somehow seems to have actually been therapeutic for him? An act of closure and comfort? Afterward he’s significantly more relaxed and in a better mood overall, and is even noted in 501st to have taken it upon himself to keep Mereel company as moral support. Jaing. For Mereel. It’s an interesting contrast, that Mereel’s still (understandably) struggling (and might have re-traumatized himself with the way they handled Ko Sai’s body, which is why extreme acts of vengeance like this are typically not recommended, besides the whole...extreme acts of vengeance thing, obviously), while for Jaing, for all that his actions were incredibly disturbing, it’s apparently more of a closed chapter. He’s found some sort of peace with the issue now. And that seems to...sort of characterize him? He’s guided by his emotions primarily, and since his emotions tend to be very extreme this means he lives in extremes, and seems to deal in them, too. And once it’s done, it’s done. This isn’t exactly healthy, but then, none of them really are. It just seems to be how he operates.
In terms of emotional honesty I’d set Jaing closer on the spectrum to A’den, just also with more extreme mood swings and a much better grasp of social manipulation. I feel like he’s somewhere middle of the pack in terms of emotional intelligence (he’s a bit callous about Ordo’s feelings a couple times in 501st, but doesn’t seem to do it deliberately), but is on the slightly higher end in regards to actual compassion - still not a lot, and he doesn’t like it, but he does have it, even if it’s only enough to make him a bit uncomfortable sometimes. See his reaction to Kom’rk over Jusik and the fact that he’s always the Null notable for being around when someone needs care? (Which is...interesting, considering, but Jaing was the one helping Fi’s early recovery and settling him in on Mandalore before Parja took over. He’s the one noticing Mereel struggling and keeping him company when he’s distressed in 501st. When the extraction of Niner and Darman fails and the others are still reeling about failing the mission, he immediately moved to keep some of the heat off Niner’s back without instruction and without saying anything until it was already done, which was about when everyone else only started worrying about the cameras. One interpretation of his relationship with Kom’rk is he’s the one keeping tabs and checking in on him, since Ordo usually gets Kom’rk’s status from Jaing. I’m not sure what to do with all this yet, but it’s sure there.)
He’s very charming too, of course, especially when he’s in a good mood, but he can swing to sullen at the drop of a hat and can be a very grumpy boy when he’s not excited (and he basically seems to swing between “irritable” and “excitable” with minimal stops in between), which makes sense because emotional swinging is exhausting and he’s liable to be overly sensitive to most social stimuli in response, since anything would be liable to set him back on that roller-coaster.
Favorite moment : When they’re trying to extract Niner and Darman and as soon as things start to break down, Jaing’s mood immediately plummets into sullenness and he gets a bit grumbly. But when they have to leave Niner and bang out, while even Ordo is still reeling a bit from what’s going on, we find out Jaing’s already moved without needing to be prompted to keep some of the heat off Niner’s back. That’s sort of his job, sure, but it still shows that he was thinking about it even when he’s being a grump and...I don’t know, I liked it. Jaing’s gonna help you out but he’s gonna be super grumpy and flippant about it.
He also seems to like Niner at least a bit (they interact a lot in 501st, comparatively, and their dynamic is kind of fun), which is also why I like that scene.
Idea for a story : Still feeling a winter holidays sort of vibe, I guess. Jaing hunting Kom’rk - who’s been alone for way too long - down somewhere remote and he’s hauled actual space hot chocolate up three damn mountains or something, and once he finds Kom’rk proceeds to bitch him out the whole time he makes the hot chocolate and then makes him take the hot chocolate and they sit up on a cold ass cliff with their hot drinks and swing their legs out over the abyss and watch the skyline for a bit while Kom’rk’s emotions slowly creep back into existence and it’s nice.
Unpopular opinion : I don’t know enough about the popular opinions. I know they’re out there, but hell if I know what they are. So instead, have a song! (Youtube link for MARINA AND THE DIAMONDS - Savages. ‘Cause why not.)
Favorite relationship : The one he has with Kom’rk, for basically the same reasons I listed in Kom’rk’s section. Okay I stopped being lazy and went and copied it: A very interesting take on the those two guys concept that I adore. I also like the idea that Jaing “People Gloves” Skirata, was probably the one who followed Kom’rk “nobody got me a cake /jk /kinda not really” Skirata to the Outer Rim to provide emotional support for him while he self-isolated. Their dynamic is bloody and sweet, I think. Also, smooth, personable, soft-spoken Kom’rk and Jaing, who can be very charming in a more endearing, toothy smile sort of way, but comparatively is a bit more a bull in a china shop and is more easily and obviously wounded (Skirata) and...I don’t know. I feel like Jaing might take care of Kom’rk as much as Kom’rk takes care of Jaing, and I just like it.
Favorite headcanon : The mood swings and emotional dysregulation fall into headcanon territory, I think. Also the mental image I have of him from kaasknot’s fic. I think that’s my favorite version of Jaing, honestly.
all I'm thinking of is skirata picking off vau too much to the point where vau just sends mird after his ass
cadets watch as skirata desperately tries to jump up somewhere high where the damn strill cant get him. unfortunately for him he ded lmao
I loved this request so much!!! It was fun.
Mandalorians don’t fight fairly
Warnings: Two mean old men, arguing, THE DADS ARE FIGGHHHTTTIIIINNNNGGGG, Mird being a good hunter, Kal’s shitty ankle, the clones being smarter than their sargeants,
Walon Vau and kal Skirata stood in the middle of a training room, arguing. Again. The two Mandalorian men were nearly nose to nose, Walon bending down while Kal looked up. They were screaming in one anothers faces, arguing about something the young cadets were not able to catch.
The Delta’s and Null’s knew it would break out into a fight soon enough, so they watched from afar. They were teenagers now, and they knew not to get in the way of their sargeants arguing. When fists started to fly they got very dangerous. It was always best for them to punch it out, it was easier.
Lord Mirdalan paced around the two men, sizing Skirata up as it growled low in it’s throat. Sev’s eyes widened and he nudged Scorch hard, “Look at Mird.” The other Delta’s turned their gaze to Mird, who was now in Skirata’s blind spot.
The Strill was now frozen, its tail lashing back and forth. “Sarge is giving it hand signals.” Fixer whispered, watching Mird wiggle its butt in anticipation. Skirata didn’t notice, too busy screaming at an oh so calm Vau.
Suddenly one of the Null’s gasped, catching onto the Strill’s body language. Before they could warn Kal, Mird lunged. All Kal saw was a flash of gold, drool, and teeth before he was suddenly on the ground.
The armored Mandalorian held his arms up, covering his non-helmeted face. Mird snapped and growled, it’s teeth scratching the paint off the Beskar. Mird wasn’t a stupid killer, it knew how to kill a man. Mird wasn’t going for Kal’s weak spots, it was just giving him a good scare.
“Walon!!! Call off your pet or I’ll l-” Before Skirata could grab his knife Mird put a heavy clawed foot onto Kal’s knife wielding hand. Holding that hand down with its muscular paw. Kal cussed and screamed in Mando’a, Walon watching with a slight smirk on his face.
The Null’s and Delta’s could only watch, Mird getting a few good bites on kal’s elbows and exposed hands. “Fine you win!! You crazy bastard!!!” Kal barked out and Vau only smirked. He whistled lowly, “Udesii Mird’ika. Udesii.” Mird growled and backed off of Kal, walking to it’s master.
“You old psychopath.” Kal sneered as he stood. Walon ignored him and looked at his Delta’s, “Who remembers who’s faster, a Strill or an old man with a bad ankle?” The Delta’s snickered as Vau looked back at Kal.
“You wouldn’t-” Kal couldn’t finish the command because Vau clicked his tongue, giving Mird a command. Kal cussed in Mando’a, rushing to find a place Mird couldn’t climb.
The Strill bolted after Kal, it’s six legs giving it a powerful and large stride. The Null’s and Delta’s watched, “It’s not good to run from predators, they live for the chase.” Walon nods at the Null who spoke, “Exactly.”
Kal climbed onto a bunch of stacked crates, using it to boost himself into a vent on the training room ceiling. Mird jumped onto the crates, snapping and growling at Skirata. “Strill’s can climb many materials, but they don’t have thumbs to open up vents.” Walon spoke, the cadets nodding.
Walon snapped his fingers twice, “Come Mird’ika. Udesii.” He pointed at the spot in front of him as he commanded his pet. Mird huffed loudly at Kal, trotting back over to it’s master. Walon rubbed it’s head, giving Mird a treat.
Kal jumped from the vent and glared at Walon, “See sons?” He looked at the Null’s, “No one ever fights fair.” Kal wiped drool and some blood from his face, motioning for his Null’s. Vau only smirked, watching as a limping Kal left the training room with the Null’s.
Walon Vau looked at his Delta’s, “Never run from a predator, and play smart.” He motioned for them to follow. Walon left the training room with the Delta’s, who just learned a new lesson in an odd way.
