SOME BELLS RINGING // JAKE & SCOUT --- @vlnerable
He didn’t know a single person in that wedding.
Okay, that’s an exaggeration. He does know the groom. He’s the brother. But besides the idea that he was watching his little brother get married before him, the ridiculous thing was that he's that one odd important guest out. As the best man, he’s hung out with the groomsmen. Not to the point where he could call them his friends. Well.. he was never really big on making friends anyway.
Maybe that’s why the couple predicted he would be attending without a plus one. Maybe that’s why he was made to stand right next to this young bridesmaid ----short, red-haired (or is that a shade of orange?), sharp-eyed.. even the tug on the corner of her lips looked sharp. As in the smug and smart kind of sharp. Maybe it was his ‘snobbish’ demeanor that got him into this. That got him forced into being a stranger’s escort down this holy aisle.
Jake wouldn’t have had a problem with it ---if it were in any other circumstance. Because this bridesmaid, whose arm is looped around his, whose fingers and nails made her seem like the type that was so well-put together, wasn’t around his age. Nahh, he was sure she wasn’t even close.
He didn’t know a single person in that wedding. But somehow, her touch gave him a feeling that that was about to change.
