For a few brief moments, I’ve forgotten how cold and windy it is outside my window despite the fact that it’s the first of June. I have Jakil to thank for the respite. The London by way of Scotland five piece return to romance us with new single Fool Without U, a saccharine indie pop ballad that warms my heart up with its lambent guitar licks and earnest cooing. Jakil explains of the song: “It’s easy to feel lost in a big city like London, but ‘Fool Without U’ is about finding that one person that has your back amongst all the madness.” Even though we’re from London, and even if we haven’t found a special someone in our concrete jungle, at least we have Jakil to keep our wandering hearts company and keep us sane with their sun-kissed pop. Fool Without U is a sparkling gem that will surely enamor fans of The 1975, MUNA, and Great Good Fine OK. You could say their sampling of Jerry Maguire at the beginning of Fool Without U is on target. Watch Jakil’s lyric video for the song below.
