St James the Less by Kevin Lane Via Flickr: Longton parish church, situated between Uttoxeter Road and Normacot Road, this view from the latter. Built 1833-34, it was a Commissioners' Church, one built with money granted from Parliament in 1815 and 1824 to encourage the building of new churches in the expanding urban areas. It was designed by James Trubshaw (1777-1853).
