Some days, Sebastian truly hated London. Mostly its smell; he hated the smell. Everything else was beautiful to him: the people, the architecture, the excitement, the colors. But that smell. It wasn't necessarily a bad smell, either, and still Sebastian refused to enjoy it. Was it a combination of car fumes and rain? He never could tell.
He was getting distracted.
For some reason, his brain had decided to go off on a tangent as he pressed on through the alley, trying to stop the blood flow from his wound. His arm hurt, goddamn it, but the injury was certainly worth it. His target was dead, and his employer, happy.
That's all he ever cared about nowadays.
As he neared the end of the alley, Sebastian readied himself to face the evening crowd of people along London's city streets. All he needed was a few paces of empty sidewalk and he could reach his flat without anyone asking about the gunshot wound. The fella had nicked him - nothing terribly serious - but that didn't help him at all. It still stung and smelled like copper.
And then the copper smell combined with London's smell, and Sebastian was furious.
His covert mission to reach his sanctuary was cut short as he nearly exploded from the alley and toppled into another gentleman - a gentleman he hadn't even seen. Cursing quietly, Sebastian stood up and faced his 'assailant.'
"Jesus, I'm sorry," he said, his words low but apologetic. "Didn't mean to hit you."
