When I read about what happened to LaPorsha Washington and her daughter #jazminebarnes this past Tues, I stopped in my tracks. After all, this is my fav holiday of the year, a time that I tend to celebrate far into January. But that was over now. I was speechless. And heartbroken. And I wept. For her mother and her siblings who witnessed and were injured in this act, for her family and community whose young one was taken from them suddenly and senselessly, for all of us shaking our heads and wondering, What Is Happening.
To think that a seven-year-old lost her life so violently on a day that symbolizes newness and fresh beginnings... sometimes, words truly fail.
But sometimes — in those best of times — words can help heal. ... Please take a moment out of your day and send a letter of support to Jazmine’s mother, LaPorsha Washington. Let her know that we are with her, that she is not alone in her grief. That she is lifted, believed and loved.
And to #jazminebarnes who deserved many more years to express the fullness of your life and potential: this year is for you, lil sis. 👧🏾 #sayhername #blacklivesmatter @millionhoodies4justice #notonemore Action 🔗 in Bio ☝🏽 (link)
