We once lived a modest life filled with challenges, but also with love and hope. Then the war came… and changed everything.Since the war in Gaza began, we’ve been living a nightmare. Our home was completely destroyed in an airstrike, and we are now homeless. My husband, Ahmad, lost his job — and then he disappeared. We have no idea where he is, and my heart fears he may have been martyred. Still, we pray he is alive.
I suffer from a chronic illness and need ongoing medical treatment, but I can no longer afford even basic checkups or medications. My children are hungry, cold, and scared. All I want now is to find safety for them — food to fill their stomachs, and shelter to protect them from bombs, fear, and displacement.I’ve been waiting for months for the border to open, hoping to flee with my children to a safer place. But now, she is forced to salvage whatever she can of her education, her life, and her family's future, and to continue any form of study available to her under miserable and unsafe conditions.She studies in darkness, deprived of sleep and food, under the rain of bombs. She is stripped of all the comfort and opportunities a student deserves. Educational resources are scarce, and the future in Gaza is uncertain.Her father, who suffers from heart disease, is unable to work or provide any income to cover food and basic needs for their family of six. He also needs treatment and a cardiac cauterization procedure.Despite all this, Yasmin holds tightly to her dream of completing her education.
