Some Jasflynn for the wonderful disneydoctor/flynnrid3r! Don't get too distracted in class, dear~ xD

It started to rain, drops falling from the grey sky to the grey sidewalk where a bustle of college students was trying to make their way home from classes.

"Well, crap," Flynn said, squinting up at the sky, which started to rain harder, almost as if in spite. He huddled under his hoodless jacket, looking so much like a disgruntled cat that Jasmine couldn't help laughing.  "I'm glad someone finds this amusing," he said, sticking out his tongue at his girlfriend.

Jasmine rolled her eyes, water rolling off her own dark hair into her face, but she couldn't help her smile. "It's not that bad, you drama queen, it's not as if you're going to melt. Besides, we're almost to your apartment."

"Do you have an umbrella?" Flynn asked, looking as if he was trying to shrink his neck to get his head under the collar of his jacket. Jasmine shook her head, and if Flynn had been paying better attention, he would have recognised the mischievous glint beginning to brew in her brown eyes.

"No, I don't... but I do have this...!" Before he could stop her, Flynn was drenched as Jasmine jumped off the sidewalk into a pothole in the road that had filled up with rainwater, making him even more sopping wet than he already was. She was drenched, too, but seeing the look on Flynn's face was completely worth it.

She couldn't stop laughing, even as he turned to her with the most distraught look she had ever seen. "...If you're going to do that, princess," he managed, "You better be ready for this!" And with that, he emptied his entire waterbottle over her head, causing her face to  be completely hidden behind black curtains of her dripping hair.

Between the giggles and the water fight, it took some time to get back to the apartment that night.

Jasflynn (because I kind of want to know, and I have a thing for Crackships)

Who cooks: I would like to think they both cook with each other in the kitchen all the time. You know the whole playful couple thing, where Jas could be putting frosting on a cake and Flynn hugs her from behind and then puts some of the frosting on her nose and runs away. Cute stuff. >3<

Who does the laundry and other chores: Again, I think they both pull their share. I would also like to think they make it a competition with a chart and everything. And at the end of the week, the loser has to take the winner out to do whatever they want. (Flynn is normally the loser but lucky for him, Jas doesn't make him spend too much ;D) 

How many children do they have: dfhg,jdhgf, ahhhhhhhh ~<3. I think 2 or 3! C:

Who’s more dominate: Flynn ;D Duuurrr~! Have you seen those pecs of his?? Mmmmm. Yum. I mean... NEXT QUESTION.

Favorite nonsexual activity: Just being together is enough for them. Even if one of them has had a bad day, the other person would try to cheer them up. Or doing something outdoors, neither of them like staying inside for a long amount of time. Plus, closed spaces make Flynn nervous.

Their favorite place to be together: The park. It's where they had their first kiss and it's where Flynn plans on proposing to her one day.

Any traditions: It's a sad one, but when Flynn is reminded of his parent's death; Jas will hold him and say a few lines from his favorite story. And when Al's death comes up, they go visit him but Jas normally leaves early. Flynn always tells him how strong Jasmine is and how she's been doing. Sometimes Flynn stops by to just talk to him. Because he really wishes he could have met the guy once.

What they do for each other on holidays: After hanging out with friends and Jas' family, they go back home and give each other their gifts. Then a lot of cuddling happens because it's the holidays and they love each other (´ ▽｀).。ｏ♡

Where did they go for their honeymoon: afghjkliouytyrewdsacxcvbnm,m~!!!!!!! This is a pretty hard question. Because I don't know XD; I know it wouldn't be the cliche honeymoon places like Paris or Hawaii.

Where did they first meet: The university book store. Flynn was trying to steal a few, hoping no one would notice but Jas did and she nagged him till he eventually put them back. After that, he came in all the time doing something crazy to get her attention.

Any pets: This vicious tabby cat named Rajah that Jas owns. (Flynn is allergic) 

What do they fight over: The typical stuff (their relationship, miscommunication, finances, etc.). But mostly about Flynn's stealing, even though he's gotten better and has stopped.

Do they go on vacations, if so where: DISNEEEEYYYLANNNDD HUUUURRRR DUUURRR. Oh God, that would be hilarious. But no. Since in this AU they are college students, I'm doing to assume most of their money goes into school (at least mine does D';) and thus they are too broke to go anywhere. (I COULD HAVE GONE TO DISNEYLAND YESTERDAYYYYYY D'; FFFFFFFF)

Homemade Forts and Rainy days.

She wasn't convinced that was the reason. But instead of pestering him about it, she chose to let it go with a shake of her head. "Right." She drawled out the word. Her grin ever growing as her hand went for a pillow. "You don't believe me?" Flynn didn't notice her movement. He was more preoccupied that his girlfriend didn't believe his poorly thought out excuse at the moment.

"Not in the slightest, Mr. Rider." Jasmine respectively whacked a pillow on his face, her smile as bright as ever. Flynn could only blink, his entire body seemed to go rigid from the attack. And it kind of freaked Jasmine out. She waved a hand in front of his face. But before she could really do anything about it, Flynn hit her with a pillow of his own.

And right then and there was probably the first moment Flynn admitted to himself that he was falling deep for Jasmine.

Oh yeah, Flynn could get use to these 'blanket fort' things.

So... this made me cry when I was writing it. Just be warned. Also, if you would like to ramp up the feels, listen to Safe and Sound while reading it, like I did while writing it.

The professor dismissed what was Jasmine's last class of the day. She slowly put her notebook into her binder and the binder into her bookbag, the dark purple flower she had stuck behind her ear falling to the lecture hall floor. Jasmine snatched it up immediately, dropping her binder. It clattered to the floor, seeming way too loud for the nearly empty room. The professor looked up at her from his desk.

“Are you all right, Miss Sultane?” he asked, looking over his glasses at her.

“Yes, fine,” Jasmine choked out, shoving her binder into her bookbag and rushing out the door.

Outside, the sky was gray, looking like it might rain and matching Jasmine's mood. She could see Flynn coming down the sidewalk to meet her and practically ran to her car, not wanting to explain to Flynn where she was going or why she was dressed in all black or why she might cry at any moment. But Flynn was too fast for her. She had just buckled herself into the driver's seat when he tapped on the passenger seat window. Unwillingly, she rolled down the window. Flynn's face was serious.

“Jasmine,” he said. “What's wrong?” He took in her black clothes and her dark eyes, the dark purple flower in her hair the only trace of colour. And even that wasn't much.

“It's...” Jasmine tried to say, but she didn't want to complete the sentence.

“Jasmine,” Flynn said more urgently, not knowing why his girlfriend was sitting there like a shadow of herself. “Unlock the car.” She did, and he pulled open the passenger door, sliding into the car and almost slamming it behind him. “What's wrong?” he asked. “Did something happen?” Jasmine looked out the driver's side window, not wanting to meet his eyes.

“It's the anniversary --” anniversary was such a wrong word to describe it, like something happy, like something worth celebrating, “-- of the car accident,” Jasmine finished with a whisper, still looking out into the street. It had started to rain. If she were still in her literature class, she would have pointed out the symbolism of the drops hitting the windshield. But all she felt right now was emptiness. Flynn was silent, then gently and a little unsuredly reached over and took one of her hands. It sat limp in his, as if all the life had gone out of it.

“I'm sorry, Jas,” he said quietly. Jasmine swallowed.

“It's okay,” she said hollowly. “It's not your fault.” She put the key in the ignition and turned the car on, the engine trying to fill the silence between them.

“Are you sure you want to drive?” Flynn asked carefully. Jasmine didn't answer him at first, pulling the car out of its parking spot and onto the street.

“You don't know where to go,” Jasmine said, with the same hollowness as before. Flynn didn't press it, but it scared him to see her like this, like the rain had washed the spark he had grown used to seeing out of her. She drove out of campus, heading onto a lesser-used road. She kept her eyes fixed on the wet pavement in front of her, but Flynn looked out the window at the water-soaked trees flicking by. Occasionally a car would pass them on the road, flying back the other way, their taillights fading in the rearview mirror. They said nothing as they drove down the road, Flynn sensing that if he tried to talk, she would either shut him out or start crying. By all rights, he shouldn't even be here, leaving her to grieve alone. He didn't want to intrude, but here he was. He silently checked to see if there was an umbrella in his messenger bag, not seeing one in Jasmine's car.

Eventually a small cemetery by the side of the road came into view, a wrought-iron fence surrounding the grassy field gridded with tombstones. Jasmine pulled over, her face ashen, barely putting the car in park and not even turning it off as she threw open the door and ran under the iron archway reading “Sacred Rest Cemetery.” Flynn turned the car off and locked it, pulling the umbrella out of his bag. Jasmine had run out into the rain without a coat or umbrella, and he could see her standing in front of a single black tombstone, her hair lying wet and limp against her back. Even from outside the cemetery gates, Flynn could tell she was crying. She sank to her knees, not caring about the mud, and Flynn could see her pull the purple flower out of her hair and lay it on the grave. He quietly snapped open the umbrella, slowly coming around behind her to shield her from the rain. She was on her knees in front of the tombstone, her face in her hands as she cried. Flynn looked at the headstone, not saying anything. It read “Aladdin Ababwa” in impersonal block letters across the top, following the same formula as every other tombstone in the cemetery. Below that was his birth date and his death date. He'd been born on November 25th, twenty-one years ago. His death date was today's date, last year. He'd been twenty when he died. There was no epitaph, no picture, nothing else on the tombstone. It stood there, cold and uniform, devoid of any personal touch or anything to comfort those left behind.

Jasmine had taken her face out of her hands, but tears were still running down her face. She finally swallowed past the lump in her throat enough to speak. Flynn held the umbrella over her, wishing he could still hold the umbrella and not hear the personal words she had to say. But she spoke as if she had forgotten he was there.

“I still miss you, Aladdin,” she said. More tears made hot trails down her cheeks, stark contrasts to the freezing rain still falling over the cemetery. “I miss you a lot. And I wish we could've had more time together, because it wasn't fair.” She let out a strangled cough, sniffling even though she was trying not to. “It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair. None of this is fair. It's not fair that I got out of the hospital and you didn't. And I wish it had been the other way around. I wish, if one of us had to die, it'd been me. I wish it'd been me,” she whispered. She coughed again, swiping at her eyes with the back of her hands. They were rimmed in red, with deep shadows showing under her eyes. She stared at the etched name on the headstone as if he could, somehow, hear what she had to say. “And I still can't believe it sometimes, and sometimes I wake up and think you'll be next to me and you're not. It's been a year, but I can't let you go. I won't let you go.” Her voice wobbled and choked, but still she forced the words through her tears. “I love you and I want you to know I still think of you, every day. And I hope – I hope wherever you are, you think of me...” Her voice squeaked high on the last word, and this time she found she couldn't say anything more after that, no matter how hard she tried. She whirled up onto her feet, not meaning to push past Flynn but doing it anyways. She ran back through the rain, back past the other silent tombstones, back under the archway, running around to the other side of the car and climbing in, the sound of the car door slamming seeming to echo with the sound of the rain.

Flynn still stood at the tombstone, the rain pattering softly on his umbrella. He cleared his throat, looking down at the flattened grass in front of the headstone. He looked over at Jasmine's car parked by the side of the road, then back at the silent tombstone. He cleared his throat again.

“I didn't know you,” he said quietly to the polished headstone. “I didn't know you at all, and you didn't know me. But I guess you would want to know that I'm trying my best to take care of her.” He looked down at the grass again, then his eyes flicked back up to the name etched in the stone marker. “I can't ever be you. But I promise you I'll take care of her. She means a lot to me.” He knew the headstone wouldn't reply, but he stood there for a moment. Jasmine had accidentally trampled the purple flower she had set down, and Flynn bent over and righted it, straightening out the petals and laying in back in front of the grave. Then he walked back through the rows of headstones, back through the wet grass to the car. He closed the umbrella, shaking it out before collapsing it back in. He tapped gently on the window of the car, not wanting to intrude if Jasmine needed more time to herself. Jasmine looked up at him from the driver's seat, her legs pulled up onto the seat and her arms wrapped around her as if she was cold. She pushed open the passenger side door, leaning over and then pulling herself back into her hunched position.

“If you want some time alone, I'll wait outside,” Flynn said gently, but Jasmine shook her head, rubbing away more saltstreaks from her cheeks.

“There's been too much time alone,” she said quietly. Flynn got back in the car, putting the wet umbrella on the floor of the backseat. Jasmine hadn't moved, her face hidden by the curtain of her hair. She looked alone. Flynn slowly reached out and tucked some of her dark hair behind her ear, seeing the profile of her face as she rested it on her knees.

“I'm here,” he said quietly. Jasmine made a sound that was halfway between a gasp and a sob.

“Yes,” she managed. Then, suddenly, she moved to his side of the front seat, going over the small divider between the seats. He wrapped his arms around her as her tears made wet drops on his shirt. “Flynn, I'm -- ” she started to say, the lump in her throat stopping her. Flynn stroked her hair, his hand moving back and forth through her dark locks. “I -- ”

“It's all right, Jasmine,” he said. “Shhh. Shhh. Everything will be all right.” Jasmine swallowed again, closing her eyes as more tears welled out from behind her eyelids.

“Yes,” she said again, choking it out. “Yes.”

The professor finally finished his lecture on growing poverty rates, Flynn capping his pen and shaking out his cramping hand in relief. A few seats away in the lecture hall, Jasmine gave him a look of quiet amusement. Flynn shot her a quick grimace in return, the just as quickly erased it as the professor glanced up at their row.

“You are dismissed,” the professor said sourly after one more glance over the seated students. Immediately there was a clatter of notebooks and binders being shut and bags zipping open. Flynn threw his pen and notebook into his messenger bag, slinging it over his shoulder and heading for the door. Jasmine put her things in her bookbag and practically ran to catch up to him.

“In a hurry to get out of there?” Jasmine asked him, a smile quirking onto her face as they headed out of the English building for lunch.

“That was supposed to be a literature class,” Flynn said disgustedly, hitting the button to cross the street.

“Well, he did start out talking about Oliver Twist,” Jasmine said diplomatically as they waited for the “walk” light to turn on. “Then he sort of... degenerated.” The white “walk” light clicked on and they walked past the stopped cars to the other side of the street.

“That was more than just degeneration,” Flynn said, adjusting the strap of the bag on his shoulder. Jasmine shook her head, an amused smile on her face.

“You find something to complain about that professor every day,” she said as they headed down the sidewalk. “If you hate him so much, why don't you switch classes?” Now Flynn shook his head.

“Doesn't work that way, Jazzy,” he said, slipping an arm around her waist. Before Jasmine could say that it did in fact work that way sometimes, he continued on. “Where should we go for lunch?” Jasmine shrugged.

“Wherever,” she replied. Flynn sighed in mock rebuke.

“That's not particularly helpful, princess,” he said, grabbing ahold of one of her backpack straps and shaking it playfully.

“Fine, then,” Jasmine said, rolling her eyes and thinking of the lunch options on campus. “How about... Noodles?” she asked, naming a restaurant about a block away. She tilted her head up at Flynn, who grinned down at her, his arm slung around her waist.

“That's fine by me, babe,” he said as they turned a corner towards the restaurant. They reached the restaurant, passing under the red awnings into the building. Flynn's hand dropped off her waist once they got inside, settling for Jasmine's hand instead. They stared up at the menus on the wall, which listed all sorts of pasta dishes ranging from mac 'n cheese to pesto cavatappi to pad thai.

“Now I remember why I don't go here,” Flynn said, looking up at the menu. Jasmine looked over at him wonderingly.

“Why not?” she asked. Flynn made a face at her, causing her to grin in spite of herself.

“Too many choices,” he said with mock despair. Now Jasmine did laugh, squeezing his hand.

“Well, we could split something,” she said. “It is a lot of food.” Flynn smiled down at her.

“Sounds like a plan, princess,” he said. “What do you recommend?”

They ordered their food and found a table for two, sticking the number they had been given into a little stand so the server would know where to bring their food. Then they sat down, Flynn facing the glass doors and Jasmine facing the noisy hubbub of the restaurant.

“Do you have any more classes this afternoon?” Jasmine asked. Flynn shook his head, not even pretending to be sad.

“Nope,” he said. “Not today! I'm free for the afternoon.” He grinned mischievously as Jasmine sighed. “I take it you've got a few more hours of lectures ahead of you?”

“Yes,” Jasmine said, not nearly as enthusiastically. “'Intro to Shakespeare' with Professor Robert Brooke. He's new.”

“Well, hopefully he won't -- ” Flynn's expression changed from sympathetic to pained as someone walked in the door behind Jasmine, but he finished his sentence. “-- be too bad.”

Jasmine noticed his pained look. “What's wrong?” she asked as she turned around a little in her seat. “Oh.”

Rapunzel, Flynn's ex-girlfriend, walked into the restaurant, hand-in-hand with a curly-haired young man. She was giggling as they walked in, but her eyes met Flynn's across the restaurant and it faded into a startled silence.

“Do you want to go somewhere else?” Jasmine asked quietly as Flynn averted his eyes. Now Flynn sighed.

“Oh, look, our food's here,” he said, not answering the question, as a server came towards them. The server set down their food, and, after asking them if they needed anything, left. Flynn looked back up at Jasmine, who was still looking at him with a concerned look in her eyes. “Jasmine, it's fine,” he said, picking up a fork and stabbing some pasta. “Really, it's fine.” He shrugged. “Besides, we were here first,” he said, looking up at her and managing a grin.

“I guess,” Jasmine said, managing a smile herself. She picked up another forkful of noodles. Flynn's fork intercepted hers, trying to wrangle some of the noodles away from her. “Hey!” she said, looking up to see a mischievous glint in his brown eyes. “I think there's enough for the both of us,” she said with a sideways smile, wrenching her fork away from his. Flynn laughed.

“This is more fun,” he said. Jasmine rolled her eyes.

“You're exasperating,” she said, popping her fork into her mouth, although she was unable to hide a smile.

“But I'm lovable?” Flynn asked with a grin. Jasmine snorted, swallowed her bite, then laughed.

“Most of the time,” she answered with another sideways smile. “Do you want the last bite?” she asked him, pointing at the few noodles left on the plate with her fork.

“If you don't mind,” he said, wrapping the noodles around his fork. When he had finished, they stacked the silverware on top of the plate for the server and left the restaurant, although Jasmine noticed Rapunzel watching them as they exited.

As they came out of the building, they could hear the clocktower at the centre of campus chime one. Jasmine started.

“I should get to class,” she said, looking regretfully up at Flynn. He squeezed her hand.

“Have fun with all your thees and thys and thous,” he said, ruffling her hair. Jasmine made a face at him and pulled her mussed hair out of her ponytail, quickly redoing it.

“I will,” she said, adjusting her bookbag on her back. “You have fun doing... whatever you're doing this afternoon,” she said, quirking a smile.

“Oh, I will,” Flynn said, waggling his eyebrows mock suggestively. Jasmine rolled her eyes, but Flynn continued. “Hey – are you busy tonight?”

“No, but I thought you and your friends were doing something tonight,” Jasmine replied, raising an eyebrow. Flynn shrugged.

“Phillip bailed. Apparently his girlfriend made a surprise appearance or something.”

“Oh, I'm sorry,” Jasmine said, but Flynn shrugged again.

“It's fine, babe,” he said, nudging her playfully. “So, my place, tonight?”

“All right,” Jasmine said, smiling up at him. “But now I really have to get to class,” she added, shifting the weight of her bookbag on her back.

“Go on, then,” Flynn said with a cheeky smile, pushing her forward. Jasmine shot him a look of fond exasperation, but started walking down the sidewalk. He started down the sidewalk the other way, but that was all right. He'd see her tonight.
