Jashun, have you ever met any aliens, either out in space or out on the range?
Ain’t seen too many extraterrestrials ‘round these parts, ‘cept if ya count them stars galaxies away.
Nawh, ran into a bunch’o them while I was stationed up there in the stars. Few were pretty nifty lookin’ too. Got ones that’re all stary like, lil glaxies all on them all. Could’a stared at them fer ages but that’d be rude, wouldn’t want ta offend none.
Another kind out there with them bit tusks, lotsa crystal lookin things, couldn’t tell if it was aparta them or just jewerly or sum. Gotta say, am a bit envious of ‘em.
Least the ones I met were pretty darn friendly. Sum others...ah well, can’t all be good people I suppose.
That’s how it felt when Jashun hit the ground, the aftershock of an explosion ringing in his ears as tepid teal blood trickling down the side of his face. Muffled sirens, screaming comrades, the subdued ‘rat-a-tat-tat’ of ammunition bled into one chaotic sensory overload.
Get up.
Jashun’s limbs cried, his frazzled brain too muddled to comprehend the blooming ache in his side.
GET UP.
The darkness begins to rise, hazy and quiet, like fog over a moonless night sea. He’s loosing sight of it all, the world around him sinking deeper into static.
“JASHUN!” shrieks a familiar voice, mad with desperation and pitched to a panicked war cry.
One-no-two cool hands haul him onto his back and slam into the hole the bullet had left.
Jashun chokes, a brief bit of life flaring up into his lungs as his vision centres on the medic hovering over top of him--Doc....Teresa.
He starts coughing, blood spitting from his throat, spilling down the corner of his mouth.
“Jashun, can you hear me?” Teresa asks, now the calm after the storm.
“Hey now...I’m here,” he replies trying to crack a smile. “Feelin’ damn tired though. World’s a little wonky.”
“That’s the blood loss. I’m working on slowing the flow. Just stay with me, got it?”
“Ah, I’ll try. Can’t promise much though--HEY OUCH, THe heck was that for Tere?” Jashun sputters, pain striking him like a match, up and down his spine.
“I’m trying to take the bullet out. Stay still or it’s only going to hurt more,” Teresa demands with teal bloodied hands.
“Jeeze Tere, you don’t gotta be so blunt. M’tryin’ ta stay still but DAMN it hurts like a bitch.”
“Yeah, well, get used to it. I can only do so much while we’re on the fucking battlefield. NOW HOLD STILL.”
Send 🐩+ a muse and I will explain the inspiration I had for them!
Jashun was originally a side character who was part of a plot that fell through. He was heavily inspired by overwatch's McCree. The old group I had used to joke about Overwatch a lot so....yeah :u
