Jasmine was in the forest when these two Pokemon arrived to ask their question, the Ninetales turning happily to see her friend Yukia, and also a Gothitelle, both asking about her spells and if she had any new ones to show off. 

“Oh hi! I’m actually working on my own little spell right now, it’s one I came up with myself!” The Ninetales grins happily. She moves a bit away from the two just to make sure they won’t get caught up in what she’s about to do. “Ok, so I haven’t named this spell yet... but it’s supposed to let me jump a lot higher than normal, let me see if it works or not!” Jasmine tells them, getting into a crouching position, as if she was ready to jump, and aiming her palms at the ground. All at once, an explosion of fire shoots out from her hands, and at the same time, she leaps into the air, getting 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 higher than any normal jump would take her! She lets out a small yelp of surprise, followed by a giggle as she blasts up into the air like that. When she reaches the peak of her jump however... 

...She realizes she didn’t plan any way to get back down! “waitWAIT, aah!” She goes, flapping her arms out of reflex as she falls back to the earth, landing somewhat roughly in the branches of a nearby tree. She looks a little stunned from her fall, before a look of embarrassment washes over her face. 

“...I forgot I’d fall back down...” She mumbles, trying to hide her face in her slightly singed robe.

(mageofthewinds) "A fellow mage I see! Is there a particular school of magic you're studying at the academy, or have you chosen one yet?" The legendary smiles before continuing. "I specialize in ancient magics and wind magic, by the way."

“Oh, it’s good to meet another magic user! I don’t usually get to talk to anyone about it when I’m not at school…” Jasmine says happily, though she’s a little surprised a Legendary is talking to someone like her. 

“You probably know I’m studying pyromancy by now, since that’s what I’m most attuned to, but I’m also studying spells that mimic the effects of certain moves, like for example Reflect, that I couldn’t learn otherwise.” She explains. 

“I don’t think I’ve heard of ancient magic before though, what kind of effects does that have? …Is it some kind of special school of magic for Legendary Pokemon maybe? I’ve heard of wind magic before at least, the headmaster of my academy studies it along with water magic…” Jasmine states, hoping she’s being polite. She would hate to get on a Lugia’s bad side.

“Oh, thanks for the help, I appreciate it...” She nods slightly as the Braixen comes over and begins helping her gather up her dropped things. The two nearly have everything gathered, when suddenly...

“HEY! You dumb little Litten!” She yells as a small stack of new paper is reduced to ash by the Pokemon, before they run off. “Yeah you better run...!” The Ninetales shouts to them as they scurry away. The girl sighs, composes herself again, before turning back to the Braixen from before. 

“Sorry about that little outburst...” She says, scratching her head. “Thank you again for your help... even though that rude little cat burned some of the new paper I had just bought... Oh, and as for what it’s for, no I’m not an artist, but you could say I’m a form of writer.” She explains, chuckling slightly. “I sell little disposable spells that I write on these sheets of paper, half of it is for that, the other half is for... well, notes. I’m still a magic student, I’m not a master yet, you see.” She tells the shorter fox. That might explain the book or two she was carrying with her as well as the paper.

“Oh, and you can call me Jasmine, by the way.”

Eevee: Oh wow I didn't know you could stand like that! It looks hard! Is it hard?

“Hard? No, not really… a lot of Pokemon walk like this where I come from, maybe it’s just some sort of skill that’s developed in this area?” Jasmine ponders with a small smile. “I’m sure you could stand like this as well with enough practice, your Meloetta friend already does it too! Maybe they can help you keep your balance if you were to try?” She suggests, a small giggle escaping her lips, seeming like she finds the idea cute.

Yukia: oh, I never saw a 'tales stand on two legs. You must be an incredibly skilled ninetales. Where are you from, miss?

“Hah, skilled? I’m glad you think that way, but a lot of ‘mons where I’m from can walk like this…” Jasmine answered her fellow Ninetales, smiling happily from the compliment. 

“As to where I’m from…” The girl starts off, before getting out a map.

“I’m from this little town called Iccarad over here. I’m heading back there from Jeraden after buying more paper and books to use.” She points out. “I have to make this trip every once in a while, maybe every two weeks or so… It’s not so bad though, it’s not a dangerous journey like going to some place like Isonev might be.” She giggles. 

“What about you? You don’t seem like you’re from around here, where do you come from?”

Jokull@Jasmine: Ah, h-hello Miss! Please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but you said you are a magic student? How long have you been studying for, or have you just begun your training? Either way, it must be exhausting to master the necessary skills!

“No you’re right, I’m a magic student, I’ve actually been training for 4 years now, I started when I was 17…”

“I uh, took it up because things weren’t exactly ‘safe’ around where I was living at the time… and I wanted a more reliable way to protect myself and my friends after a little incident that happened earlier that year… One of the elders in my village suggested going to get magic training, so after convincing my parents that it was a good idea, I set off on my own to get trained in the magical arts.” She explains, seeming a bit melancholy as she recalls it. “It’s not so bad though, I like learning new skills I can put to good use, and I’ve made a few friends at the school too. Speaking of which, aren’t you a teacher?” 

“Erm… you look a little nervous by the way, is it because I’m a fire type? I’m not gonna burn you, I promise, you can relax…”

“Oh, I’ve heard of that place before... isn’t that were Darkrai was apparently hiding out? and then some mysterious pair of kids came and stopped his scheme?” Jasmine asks. She’s read about something similar to this in a book before. “Maybe that’s just an old fairy tale passed around the area... that’s all I know about Dark Crater though, besides the fact that it’s near an active volcano... I hope you have Flash Fire to withstand the heat!”

Rye: curious...what might someone like you need spells for, when powers are inherit? is it different in your world?

“Ah… well you see, Ninetales aren’t really the strongest Pokemon out there… I’d lose every time in a strength competition, and there are lots of ‘Mons who outshine us in special attacks too. I mostly took up magic for self defense…”

“Magic doesn’t discriminate on your natural powers, it just depends on how willing you are to master it, or to train yourself to use it… there’s a lot more utility in spells too than the moves I could learn myself. Does that answer your question?”
