Ok, so. Since we’re not getting an update this week, I’d like to use this opportunity to ask you guys a question. I know TAMN is mostly character-focused, meaning we mostly get to watch the detailed unfolding personalities of Scar and Grian. However, since this is a zombie apocalypse AU, do you guys ever plan to explain the zombie virus and how it came to be, or at least mention how other places in the world got affected? I personally love it when stories give explanations like this, so I was wondering if you guys ever at least entertained the idea. Thanks!

This is such a good ask, and the short answer is: yes!!

TAMN is kind of specific, in that it's a zombie apocalypse focused on people who aren't at the epicentre of any major outbreaks, and who ultimately will never know much about what's going on at a larger scale. When we watched TLoU, the parts I always pointed out to Key were the scenes of people walking along abandoned roads in the middle of nowhere, and the two of us have always dreamt about writing a road trip fic together, so this is kind of a culmination/combination of that.

That being said! TAMN does exist within a world we've fleshed out, so we know/can keep in mind what's going on in the background globally while Scar and Grian walk miserably through the desert together. We don't want to spoil too much, because we have plans for shorter one-off fics that will flesh those parts out, but I guess one hint we can give is that TAMN references a lot of established mcyt servers and series. If you know where to look......

Key chiming in to basically second everything Lock already said LMAO Originally, we hadn't planned to go into detail about the greater worldbuilding involving the origins of the virus and/or the spread of it, because we meant to focus on Scar and Grian and they just wouldn't ever find out. (At least within the scope of our story itself.) Since Scar and Grian aren't going around looking for a cure or a reason why the outbreak happened, and are just trying to make it from one day to the next, the wider scope of the world's situation simply doesn't fit within the context of their stories in the time frame we're writing. THAT SAID, since we, personally, DO know all those little details, there's absolutely material there to share. Thanks to all the support and love we've gotten for TAMN, it's really made Lock and I consider writing side fics for things happening outside of Scar and Grian's frame of experience! :D One of those things is absolutely the initial outbreak itself!

Just like Lock already said though, a big part of TAMN is Lock and I making an amalgamation of all our favourite MCYT (and MCYT adjacent) series, so... a lot of our inspiration and starting points are just a hop and skip away... ;)

Alright. New year. I’m gonna say it. Ever since the second Sonic movie came out and I became hooked on the franchise, your profile pic reminds me of a crudely drawn Knuckles the Echidna. I will probably regret telling you this but it’s true. I’ve been following you for much longer than that but I started noticing it every time you appear on my dash. Happy New Year!!

Frank, what is your opinion on human language? And which language do you consider to be the most interesting? I personally find Finnish very interesting.

This question is tricky, because I'm not sure I actually have an opinion.

Like, there's something cool about languages with complicated grammar? I certainly have a preference for the non-Sanskrit languages of India, especially the "tongue families" of the Dravidian and Sino-Tibetan languages. It's fun, somehow, to try to parse a sentence in one of those languages.

If I don't like a language, it's partly because of how many ways it's possible to use that language -- you could be speaking any one of dozens of mutually unintelligible languages. But it's partly because of what's not possible for a language, what's missing from it (and even if it were possible, why wouldn't anyone want to have it?).

That's why I like English so much, despite the fact that it's got these weird and annoying features like "suffixed prepositions" -- you can add as many adverbs of time and direction as you want to your English sentences, or even put other prepositions inside them, and it will still be comprehensible. It's got every feature a human language is capable of having -- a rich array of words with the ability to string them together in many different ways -- and no feature that, if a human ever had it, I suspect everyone would say "ew gross I hate this I hate this" about.

I don't know if that is the only thing that's interesting about languages. But I do feel like there's something about those languages with a lot of possibilities for the word order of a sentence that's cool.

Of course, there's no real reason a language would have to have every possible feature it's capable of having. "Every language with a word order like Yoda's house has no door" is probably a bad claim. But it's an interesting thing to try to imagine.

If you ask me for the most interesting language, I would have to say Japanese. I've said before that Japanese is the only "natural" language I've ever heard that I would say, if I were to encounter it in some far future world, "ah, that's an interesting idea, though it's still way too early to be sure." Not many people have heard of it, and you might not guess it was human at first glance. (Or you might guess that it wasn't.)

Hey! I dunno if you remember, I was the one to thank you for the spoiler tagging. My sister and I have finally watched it! It was absolutely a wild ride and the most fun I had while watching a movie, oh man! My favourite scene was the entire sequence with super sonic, complete with Maddie and Tom staying by Sonic’s side while Robotnik tried to kill them, I was so touched. And I wouldn’t lie if I said that we legitimately squealed when we saw Shadow slowly pull up on the screen, we even got a funny look from one guy sitting next to us! :D Tails, Sonic and Knuckles forming a team was so much fun and Sonic calling Tom dad…… *chef’s kiss* beautiful. I can’t stop smiling like a goofy idiot. This movie rocks. :D

Hey yeah of course and again no problem on dealing with the spoiler tags!

But can't agree anymore on how this movie was on the first watch. It pretty much delivered alot despite having so much to put into it, including the emotional moments that had me either gushing or straight up crying like I was during the Super Sonic transformation.

And the appearance of Shadow??? Whoa, can't wait to see what the do with his inclusion to the SCU.

This is such a beautiful full-circle moment for me (Lock) who was absolutely obsessed with this album four years ago, literally right before Key and I got into Life Series/Hermitcraft/Scarian in general.
