Jason being popular because he’s the basketball captain, he’s dating the head cheerleader, he attends church but still goes to parties (drinking but no drugs), and comes from a prestige family…but outside of that people don’t really like him.
And he spends so many nights laying awake, that thought churning in his head, that he wonders how Eddie has so many friends when he was such a freak. Yet Jason seemed to have so few that he could actually talk to about his thoughts, his vulnerabilities, hell, none of them had even been in his room because Jason fears they’ll see it and label him strange himself. Nobody knows his favourite movie or colour or what he does on his holidays with family, that he actually doubts his faith daily or is bored during services and only comes because his parents go and the pastor is nice to talk to, the closest confidant he has, and nobody knows he’s aceing everything but math, that it makes him feel like shit because his dad keeps reminding him he can do better.
Just…Jason watching Eddie all the time trying to figure out how he does it and getting so damn frustrated because he could never.
