Their last conversation had an awful habit of replaying in her mind, reminding her at the worst moments that she hadn’t been absolutely terrible to him the entire time that they were together. Or even in the spaces when they found each other only for her to run off again. It was a nice thought, but it was just that ― a thought. But the funny thing with thoughts, is that they have a second life all their own that made them into reality when she saw Javier out of the corner of her eye. Things had settled, everyone was back home again in their old neighborhood and the fog was nothing but a distant memory. But there was the thought. She smiled, polite out of a fear maybe that she had imagined it all up and there was nothing but sadness and destruction in their wake. “You know, I thought you might stay in that big fancy mansion forever. It kind of looked good on you, if you had a nicer shirt,” she spoke, half calling out in the direction that she’d seen @jcvimoreno before realizing that he might not want to see her.
