Adaab (etiquette) of Umoomi (general) Gush
Just as each point in the six points are broken down into three parts similarly the adaabe gusht has been structured into three parts
The first being the object, then the virtues and then finally how to do it.
Bismillahir Rahmaan nir Raheem
Alhamdulillah Allah has blessed us with Kalimah La Ilaha illallah. Due to this Kalimah Allah has sent down some 124 000 Ambiya AS of which some were sent to nations, some to tribes and even some to individuals and all of them came with one purpose and that is to turn the attention of mankind from creation to the creator.
Nuh AS was sent to give dawah towards Allah and he spent 950 years doing so in which only approximately 83 people accepted the Kalimah. He gave dawah in the day and at night, in gatherings and to individuals until eventually Allah decided the fate of the people. Those who accepted the Kalimah was saved and successful and those who did not accept were unsuccessful in this world and will be unsuccessful forever in the Aakhirah.
The last and final Prophet was Nabi Muhammad SAW. His purpose was the same except his responsibility was for every person to come till the day of Qiyamat. Nabi SAW underwent numerous hardships and difficulties in order for people to recognize Allah to such an extent that ulama have stated that the sacrifices of the Ambiya AS put together could not be compared to that of Nabi SAW. Through his sacrifice Allah guided Sahaba to Deen and as soon as they accepted Islam understood that giving dawah now became their responsibility.
Like Sahaba understood their duty, we too need to understand ours and that is to give dawah towards the greatness of Allah and his qualities. By speaking about Allah again and again our hearts should get affected and the primary object of the gush is to reform ourselves and then encourage others to join us so that can also take benefit.
Virtue: There are many virtues for spending time in the path of Allah which can be narrated. One of which is:
"And whose words can be better than his, who calls (people) towards Allah, and performs good deeds and says: 'I am one of those who submit to Allah!"
Etiquette of Gush
When doing the amal of Umoomi (general) gush, if there are sufficient brothers then we should make four groups.
The first group will conduct the sitting talk.
The second will be on istiqbal at the Masjid / Musallah who will meet and welcome other brothers in. He should politely encourage them to participate in the sitting talk.
The third will be on dhikr. The person chosen for this task should not be someone tired and lazy but rather someone capable of remaining engaged in dhikr and dua for the full duration of the gush.
The fourth group will be the one going out to meet the Muslim. When going out for Umoomi (general) gush there should be a minimum of three brothers and a recommended maximum of ten brothers per Jamaat.
In this group there will be three brothers with extra responsibility although each one should be responsible for himself.
The first is the Ameer. His duty is to ensure that the Jamaat goes out with the correct dhikr which is the third Kalimah and the right fikr and mindset which is the guidance of mankind.
The second is the guide. He is responsible for taking the Jamaat to meet the Muslim if the area. He should by no means disclose any faults or shortcomings of the person going to be met. He should merely tell the speaker the brother's name and perhaps if he is an Aalim as Dawah is not given to Ulama except by another Aalim.
The speaker or mutakallim is the mouthpiece of the Jamaat and will be conveying the message which should not be too long nor too short but leaving the brother with some worry and concern of the shortness of this life and the everlasting Aakhirah. He should then invite the brother to join the Jamaat to the next home, if his unavailable to join then request him to participate in the talk after the a Salaah.
The Jamaat at all times should remain engaged in dhikr of the third Kalimah, when in the market place the fourth Kalimah and on their return they should recite istigfar and return with heavy hearts because we are sinner trying to do this great work of Ambiya AS.
If it is not the makrooh or haram time to perform salaah we should also perform two rakaat of taubah and ask Allah to forgive our sins.
