The light was dimming on yet another slow day in the shop. The summer had brought on the slowest period Thera had overseen at C&C since she had arrived. She assured herself it was the summer heat but for some reason that excuse didn’t quite sit right in her bones.
Profit hadn’t gone down, it was just, perhaps the events of late spring had left the space feeling…empty. Even her murder had been quiet, she mused as she watched the birds lazily pick at seeds in the last rays of light.
The bell above the door startled her from her sitting position. But as she went to stand she was met with Jaya El Amin, “You haven’t been here since…well I don’t think you’ve been here since the Hurricane.” She smiled, happy to see them. She had visited them at Obsidian at different points but, if her memory wasn’t failing her, they truly hadn’t been here since they’d found themselves on the fangs end of a vampire.
She smiled, she was happy for any company these days, “What can I do for you?”
