The Box

There was a box lying on the middle of a grassy field. The box was blackened and scratched, but did not look as if it were neglected. It looked as if it was placed deliberately, but without the purpose of being found. I looked over both my shoulders, afraid that someone was watching me. But no one was there, I hope, because I walked towards the box. I had no intentions of keeping it. I promise. I only wanted a quick peak because the thought of opening it gave me the same rush as opening something I was not meant to see. Just like the feeling of opening presents before Christmas day, but without the feeling of Christmas. I brought the box close to my face. It was much heavier than I thought it would be. I was about to lift the lid up, but then another thought came up. I have always been told to leave alone things that didn’t belong to me or else I would be stealing. And stealing is wrong. So I placed the box back on the grassy field and ran home.
