Illuminator stood at the side of the road, nervously trembling in her boots.
This was wrong in so many ways. She was a detective. It was her sworn duty to expose criminals, not to cause crimes herself. Crime disrupted the natural order of the universe. By continuing forth with this, she'd be associating herself with the lowest of the low, those with no respect for order. She'd be helping society to crumble apart!
She looked right and left. If she was going to do this, she might as well do it properly. Nobody seemed to be watching… still, the guilt, the knowledge of how horrendously wrong this was, wrestled her insides like it would strangle them to death. She exhaled sharply. No point in waiting...
Illuminator extended her leg and tapped the ground with her toe. Okay! She did it! That was enough, right? No… she'd do it properly!
Far away from two perfectly good crosswalks, Illuminator stomped into the street, keeping a quick pace until she reached the opposite curb. Whew…
That was done.
