“Say cheese!” The yellow blood shouted, her voice filling the empty lecture hall with her enthusiasm. The victim of her assault had no way of knowing that she’d already taken three candids before and two after the command left her mouth.
Fool that he is.
When he raises his head to look at her, there is mild irritation fighting a losing battle against the good natured smirk trying to settle on his face. Smugly, she notes that no one can really stay mad at her for too long.
“Soleah, you do know when I dismiss class for the evening, that you are included in the trolls that I would like to leave, correct?” A small smile, well she’d call it a smile, punctuates the purple bloods question. The humor in his voice knocked out even the idea that he was upset by her intrusion. She could hit herself for not recording this interaction. Silly Pricit!
“Oh come on Double P! I always stay behind.”
He raises an eyebrow, moving to prop his head against his hand but quickly seems to change his mind about the action. Professor Punnam had a lot of weird quirks like that, she hardly felt the need to mention it. In fact, Soleah found his mannerisms to be a bit endearing.
“Why is that, Soleah?”
“I like your company!” Her response comes quickly, barely a second passing between it and the question, as she bounces back and forth on the balls of her feet.
He raises both brows this time, but his expression does not change much beyond it.
“My question remains the same.”
She pauses, letting herself rock back onto steady ground. The question hangs in the air with a breath of levity. Despite what the other students might say, and even some of the older trolls she interviewed in her studies, silence with him always felt more relaxed. As though he never expected more from a troll than they were equipped to give.
They were allowed to simply be when it came down to it. There is not a lot of that on Alternia.
“Well, do I need a reason?” Silence gives way to her brilliant response, smugness once again painting itself into her features when he raises his hands up in relent to her rhetoric. She knew that he would.
“Very well, what will we talk about?”
“History obviously. But, first. A selfie!” As she speaks she leans in closer to him, turning her phone to its forward facing camera function.
Aderae sighs, but once again yields to her insistence.
“Okay, okay. Smile!” She says as she sticks her tongue out for the picture, her professor giving a less than enthusiastic peace sign beside her.
At least he smiled!
