Listen while you can. I have it on repeat. Excellent new track from Blizzy with warping time signatures. This is no club banger, but it shows why Blizzy's music is so refreshing even amongst the best of music.

And here we have something more complex. Something that shows that the author is thinking something, maybe even challenging something. Yet there, simplicity devoid, this piece still has a capacity to to draw interest. And it offers more, but sounds just as sophisticated. Perhaps then, it is the cleanliness of the production that allows the sounds to breath their own story.

This track raises an important question. How can something so simple sound so good? There is a simple beat and clean piano chords and melodies being played. And a random sample. So what about this cohesively makes it so attractive? The production quality is superb - crisp and clean. If this was a painting, it would have vivid colors and crisp lines. Something readily apparent to the viewer. But perhaps its the allure of the simplicity itself that makes this so great.

Restraint. Back to the basics.

For as great as James Blakes recent musical adventures have been, they still don’t compare to the sheer brilliance and freshness that his earlier EPs (Klavierwerke, CMYK, etc.) carried. The atmospheric, moody sounds of those tracks made name for Blizzy as a musical pioneer. And though this nostalgic longing for Blizzy to devolve his recent vocal clarity, albeit ambitious in its own, continues with each track I hear, an artist cannot be expected to remain stagnant in his musical production. This new track is a production somewhere in the middle of this Nostalgic Blizzy and the New Soul Crooner Blizzy. It has the atmospherics and unexpected sounds I have come to expect of Blizzy, yet it provides a slighlty new twist. And with that I hope that Blizzy continues to redefine himself despite my chagrin or whatever - even if it is into a sound I despise.
