ARGH FIRTHY THANK YOU SO MUCH
This is so beautiful and perfect and wonderful. So imaginative and thoughtful and gorgeous! I adore the blue dream of it (the trailer! the socks! the drive-in!) and now I’m imagining that AU of NHI too. What if they did run off together? It would look like this.
This exchange of creative energy and ability is such a precious part of fandom, as is friendship. Thank you, thank you– I am so grateful and inspired!
lakdsflaksjf I’m so glad it worked for you! I was scratching my head yesterday while I was finishing it lol, thinking I’d be the only one to get it.
No, no THANK YOU for giving us NHI (and Whiskey Knot, too!). Forever grateful for finding your fic, even if it was by accident :)
Thanks to @jediofgrace for your lovely words as well. It’s very much appreciated, too!

This is adorable and more lajulie to love. AH YES THANK YOU!
Thanks, my friend!

I love early ESB tenderness-brewing goodness! Hold that thought. Love it!
Yes, there’s a reason ESB is my favorite of the original trilogy. Thank you!

I'm a sucker for any relationship chicken of this era. This was so great! (:
“Relationship chicken” is a perfect way to describe that era. Thank you!

This was so bittersweet but the ending !!
I know--I hate having to have my favorite space couple actually hurt each other’s feelings, but that’s just it, right? They’re clashing because they’re talking past each other. Neither of them mean to do it.
waitjustaflick
I love this but I want it to be like four times longer…can we make this happen? ☕️💕
aidanstein: I agree with @waitjustaflick
lbovie: I agree with @waitjustaflick!
luv15: Ditto.
jennycbs: Yes.
Well, thank you, that’s quite flattering. Now, no promises, but theoretically if a girl was going to write more of this, would you be looking for more of the backstory that is alluded to (e.g. the “almost got locked in the utility closet” moment, or whatever incident caused Chewie to blow up at Han)? Or a continuation of whatever ends up happening after Han and Leia call a truce over kaffe? Inquiring writers would like to know.

This is so great! Loved every bit of it.

I really enjoyed this asmoonlightthroughthepines . Keep writing! I can wait to read more of your work. Man, even your handle sounds beautiful. Can't wait to read this.

Isn't this gorgeous?!

Wow… I almost missed this one. Absolutely beautiful. Your first fic? What? Jeez. Don’t let it be your last, please!!!!!
You guys!! Thank you thank you!!❤️😍

I just think asmoonlightthroughthepines‘s perception and wit spill over onto the page in a lovely depiction of Han and Leia as they grow closer en route to Bespin. This is sweet and charming, and it was so fun getting to help on it. I guess “Pining for the Moon” IS a better title than “The Shrimps are Coming! The Shrimps are Coming!” but I will never admit it. Everyone harass her into writing more, please.
Ah dudette I so owe you for all your help on this. Also I did seriously consider using that for the fic title, and my extensive audience development experience was no use in helping me decide which option would get me more readers.

So awesome! I wish I looked remotely similar to Carrie so I could play too! I'm afraid I look more like IG-88. 😏 But anyway. Love seeing your pics!
Dear friend, let me tell you, you don’t have to look like anyone or any certain way to enjoy cosplay. Cosplay is for everyone. I mean, I won’t lie, yes it can be fun when you look a little bit like the person you’re cosplaying, but part of what I love most about cosplay is seeing so many people of many different sizes, shapes, complexions, ages, etc. dress up as a character they love, simply because they love that character so much (or maybe just because they want to have fun — whatever their reasoning, it’s wonderful to see)! And while I don’t believe for a second that you look like IG-88, even that infamous killer droid would look, dare I say it, killer in a cosplay of their choice.
Honestly, it’s all about you being you and celebrating what you love, and sharing that joy with other people.
So if cosplay interests you at all, I highly encourage you to try it. It’s so rewarding, and so much fun.
@jediofgrace replied to your post: I am in the mood for some cutesy kiss and/or...
Well… My 5 year old daughter has been on this silly kick where she wants to see her daddy and me kiss. “Daddy, kiss mom!” Can you work your magic and see Han and Leia’s kids doing that?
That’s adorable!!
Honestly, I detest writing children, but if anyone else wants to write this prompt, have a go! Sounds like a cute little oneshot idea.

I know...I can’t reread my stuff without being critical either. But in case you’re bored enough for random writing conversation, I would ask how do you know when a fic is *done*? Like, I’ve been working on a fic for weeks now, and I just keep adding to it, rearranging, edit edit edit. I feel like maybe I’ll never stop. I’ll just edit this fic for eternity. (Did she kiss him like this or like that? Oh I know, let’s spend all day writing it both ways! That’s fun!)
Oh, @jediofgrace, it’s so so hard to know when a fic is finished. I don’t know that I have a good answer for you: all I can give you is my little test.
It’s not particularly illuminating, let me warn you. :D
I decide to post a fic when I can read it three times through, out loud, without rolling my eyes at myself.
That’s it.
No, seriously, that’s it. I usually try and space the read-throughs out by a few days to make sure I’m not in one of my authorial abandon trips, but sometimes the desire for validation is too strong and I’ll post ficlets here on Tumblr. The only benchmark I have for those is the not-rolling-my-eyes thing. Longer fics--the ones I archive on Ao3 or FFN--those have a few days between the readings.
I can’t give you a magic test for when fics are ready to post; I wish it were that easy. My little test at least gives me some peace of mind that I’m not doing something truly awful, but I still press “post” with a sense of dread.
How about it, author friends? How do you know when a fic is ready?
