Obi-Wan was in the middle of a sparring session with Anakin, the Master showing Ahsoka, who was off to the side, just how powerful Soresu is in combat against someone else.

They’d been working on it for a while now and he seemed as well off with his energy as he was before...until he got force shoved back against the wall and he blinked and huffed  as he stood.

“Anakin! you know better than to do that!” Obi-Wan grumbled as he got back up and scowled at his former padawan, not liking that he’d broken the rules about force usage in their spars.

“Yeah. It’s a holiday about love! Romantic, platonic, familial. People spend the day doting on loved ones and eating candy. There’s a lot more meaning to it, something about a saint going behind the government’s back to marry people or something, I think? I uh. I didn’t pay attention to that bit in class, because it’s not interesting to me. The butt munches on the island like to complain about other people being happy though, because they forgot they can’t wear their butts on their heads. So feel free to ignore them! Just eat heart shaped things, tell people you love them, and be happy!”

If Peter had been a little more careless, a little less hyperaware he may not have noticed the signs, Palpatine was good at hiding his intentions under a mask of grandfatherly affection and mild mannered smiles. If Peter hadn’t faced him multiple times as Spiderman he would’ve bought the act, and if Peter hadn’t lost a friend to the same kind of person he might’ve been completely convinced.

But Peter had lost Harry Osborn to his father whispering hate into his ear, and he refused to lose another the same way. 

The only problem was he didn’t know how to deal with it without outing himself as Spiderman. And god, if Palpatine heard? That could be catstrophic.  So Peter was resigned to attatching himself to Anakin for every moment that he could spare, every moment he was with Peter was one he wasn’t spending with Palpatine. 

And if he was annoying? So be it. At least his friend would be alive.

“C’mon Anakin,” he wheedled one afternoon after their classes had ended for the day. “My aunt got me a new gaming console for my dorm, come break it in with me!”

“Welcome to Catch-a-Ride! Especially the Sweetheart Station! I’m Sala the Sweetheart, how may I help you?”

The Togruta seemed quite chirpy and alert, especially to the fact that a ship so familiar, yet unfamiliar came to her station. It has been such a long time since she has seen such work... and Jedi were using it. That made her worry a teeny bit. If Jedi were here, something was up.

Suspicious, Obi-Wan asked, “What are you up to, Anakin?  You know I’m not  fan of surprises.  Not one I’m not springing, at least.”

They both were on a (well-deserved in his opinion) “retreat,” more of a fluff mission to observe the establishment of a new colony on a previously uninhabited planet.  Merely help out the colonists in creating a stable system of governing themselves, and only intercede if things got wildly out of line.  Knowing Anakin, however, Obi-Wan strongly suspected that they were about to toe that line.
