Etcetera knew it was going to happen the moment she jumped. She didn't take the time to make sure her grip on the trapeze was secure, too excited to fly through the air, too eager as always. The jellicles danced and sang beneath her. Etcetera flew, her grip slipped, and Etcetera fell.
She hadn't mastered landing on her feet yet, so she braced for the impact and scolding. It came in the form of strong arms catching her and Munkustrap rolling his eyes, followed by a soft "Alright?", before he set her down, falling back into dance like nothing happened.
more cettie content bc there can never be enough cettie content!!! i'm incredibly paranoid when it comes to people on trapezes and always expect them to fall right off, so that's what inspired this. i feel like - of all the kittens who do the trapeze move across different productions - etcetera would be the most likely to fall (& have it be in character).
i imagine her being sooo excited about munk choosing her for the trapeze, trying her best in training & perfecting the move, and then being SO excited to finally do it at the ball, all giddy & bouncing on her heels and everything, that she just fails to take that one extra millisecond to ensure she's got a safe grip.
i love munk being all 🙄🙄 "girl we practiced this a million fucking times, why does nobody follow my advice around here?? anyways, you okay sweetie?? no broken bones, no scratches, no nothing??? everything alright?? yeah? you sure?? you absolutely sure?? okay perfect, now get in line, this never happened, love ya, byeee" and secretly he's just kinda smiling to himself bc well, he absolutely anticipated this & made sure he was dancing right under the trapeze so he could catch cettie
i also love how i'm always putting more words in the headcanons beneath the drabble than in the actual drabble lmfao but let's be honest, the yapping afterwards is the fun stuff!
my "grizabella is munk, macavity, & tugger's mom" and my "grizabella is demeter & bomba's mom" headcanons are fighting each other to death every time i watch 1998
