Tugger will teach Munkustrap to have fun if it kills him!
…. Munkustrap.exe has stopped working.
Jelly is a faster learner. And Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer are… doing the Macarena?? no need to teach them about fun.
Vienna revival, March 2022: Alex Snova as Tugger, Alexander Auler as Munkustrap, Karin Seyfried as Jellylorum, Andrea Luca Cotti as Mungojerrie, and Vicky Riddoch as Rumpelteazer.
Tugger: Skimble’s gonna kill me. Jellylorum: No, he'll probably make me do it.
Jellicle January Day 5: Rum Tum Tugger, the Cat of La Mancha. Bonus: Jellylorum—maybe this counts as a ship? Jellytugger, perhaps?
This art is based on Man of La Mancha, featuring Tugger as Cervantes/Don Quixote and Jellylorum as Aldonza/Dulcinea. It’s a reference to the roles their respective actors played outside of the Brazilian production of Cats.
Choosing this concept was difficult. Cleto Baccic (who played Tugger), along with Fabi Bang (Sillabub) and Myra Ruiz (who played Elphaba in Wicked), are considered a "Holy Trinity of Brazilian Musical Theater"—they are in almost every production. Baccic’s most recent role was the Wizard of Oz in the 2025 Brazilian production of Wicked. I actually thought about drawing Tugger annoying Mistoffelees by pretending to be a magician, but I gave up on the idea because it would take too long and my classes started back up today. However, Baccic's most prominent role, which earned him the APCA Award for Best Actor, was Cervantes/Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha.
The Brazilian adaptation of Man of La Mancha is set within the reality of Brazilian asylums in the 1930s. I only realized how unique this was when I saw the original version; the Brazilian production uses a "homemade" aesthetic for the costumes, like armor made from kitchen utensils. I thought, "This reminds me of the costumes the Jellicles wear in Cats." The inspiration for this setting came from the writings of Arthur Bispo do Rosário.
Baccic has also played Harry in Mamma Mia!, Agatha Trunchbull in Matilda the Musical, Juan Perón in Evita, and appeared in Shakespeare’s The Two Gentlemen of Verona and the Brazilian series Tô Frito. He is also a theater producer and is often "teased" for acting in his own productions, with some jokingly accusing him of giving himself the best parts.
Rumor has it that he even said "Suck it, Cynthia!" as a joke toward Cynthia Erivo during the curtain call of Wicked Brazil. (If that’s actually true, it’s hilarious!)
Now, Michelle Carter (US tour 6 Jennyanydots) asked Cats tumblr for gifs of her number.
However, in the comments section of the same post she admired Hank Santos (Tugger)'s booty wiggles. So when I opened the video files for this boot and was clicking around to find her number, what should I find but...
A charming gentleman who will win the censorious ladies over by inviting them to a photo op with him...
... followed by an epic She touched the butt 🙀 🤩
Not Hank Santos here, but an equally fine specimen belonging to cover Luke Bernier; with Allyson Duarte as Jellylorum. 2022 US tour, March 2023.
(Several gifsets from her own number will be forthcoming! ❤️)
In which Tugger disarms the disapproving ladies by being a Charming Young Gentleman.
US tour 6, October 2022: Hank Santos as Tugger, Allyson Duarte as Jellylorum, and Michelle Carter as Jenny.
