Someone who has seen waitress the musical please explain

I've only ever heard the soundtrack for waitress, and as far as I can tell it's a devastatingly beautiful musical about escaping domestic abuse

but ALSO the song "I love you means you're never ever getting rid of me" is.... NOT a villain song?? Like, that character is correct and validated with a romance for singing this song? But it's a song about trapping a woman with your love? But it's NOT a villain song?? And this is the Same Musical that gave us the unbelievably good abuse-recovery catharsis song "she used to be mine"?

Am I missing something?? Does the show make it clear what's going on with this? Literally I've seen this song crop up all over youtube specifically to be used in animatics of VILLAIN CHARACTERS! So like, does Waitress just drop the ball or what???
