For those who missed out on the opportunity to attend Jermaine Edwards Album Launch last year in Kingston or yearned to relive such a great experience, March 7, 2015 at The Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Portmore, was the perfect opportunity to be thrilled by the sounds of Jermaine Edwards and friends. The Island Worship Artiste kick-started the Don't Count Me Out Tour last Saturday evening, and TekMePikCha was there to cover it! Check out our Facebook and Instagram page for more highlights.
Two words to describe the event would be: energetic and spirit-filled. The venue was quite suitable for the number of patrons who attended, but the décor and lighting were an issue. Though the event got off to a late start, MC for the night Dwight "Barrel man" Ross, kept the programme tight, flowing and the audience engaged! In total, there were eight performances including the island worship artiste, Jermaine Edwards. The other ministers featured were: The Jackson Sisters, Dawn Martin, Michelle T, Ordered, Iworship, Verlando Small, and Rondell Positive.
First up was Ordered, who gave an angelic rendition of "Total Praise", which had many persons in awe, including myself. Michelle T was the second performer of the night, performing 2 songs on sound track, of which "My Redeemer Lives" resonated more. Next were The Jackson Sisters, who were indeed a crowd favorite. They sang three songs, leaving everyone blessed. Dawn Martin was no stranger at all, as the audience welcomed her to the stage with a loud applause. She kept everyone on their feet with her first song "His name is Jesus". She closed off her set with her new single "I Belong To God", which was one of my personal favorites.
The 2013 winner of Digicel Rising Stars, Verlando Small, was next to hit the stage. The audience sat attentively as he entertained them with his Sax, playing the song "Lifter Of My Head", setting the stage for the next performers; the soulful group called Iworship. This group sang four songs, which had the audience engaged throughout, from Praise and Worship to Dancing. Iworship called on Rondell Positive, (who was one of the major highlights of the show), to do their last song for the night - "Keeping me alive".
Rondell kept everyone alive and out of their seats, during his entire set. In keeping with the energy, Mr Positive did seven other songs and ended his set with "Destiny", for which he called on Jermaine Edwards to accompany him. Soon after it was only Jermaine Edwards on stage. The praise and worship minister sang his heart out in the other ten songs that he did, and also spoke to the audience in between each song, encouraging them to support gospel artistes, whether by buying their music or sharing them online, and also to raise the standard of production in the events that we keep. He also thanked the crowed for their show of support at the event.
All in all it was a great start to what will be an amazing tour. I give this one an 8!
