Daily MCO Drink #291, MCO Day #293: COFFEE COCKTAIL, made with 2 parts Hennessy VS cognac, 2 parts Dow’s Fine Ruby Port, 1 part simple syrup, 1 whole egg, dry shaken first, then shaken again with ice and strained. Nope, there actually isn’t any coffee in this classic cocktail by THE Jerry Thomas. (The Difford’s Guide recipe I adapted this recipe from uses only one part cognac, but where’s the fun in that?) Port and cognac go really well together as always, with the egg adding a frothy creaminess to the whole thing.
