Pairing: Kakashi Hatake x civilian reader
Summary: Kakashi's father tells his son the clan's secret when Kakashi is at the mere age of six years old. They're able to identify their soulmate when they're able to read their mind. And it just so happens that Kakashi would meet his after 20 years of learning the clan secret.
It took a week and a half before she agreed to speak with him.
As hard as he tried, he couldn’t completely let her go during that time. Paranoid she would be in danger, he would sometimes ask the ninken to keep an eye on her. He would make sure to distance himself so he couldn’t be in the same vicinity to read her thoughts.
It helped when he went off on missions.
She had met him at one of the parks, sitting down at one of the park benches where it was mostly secluded. He had held up a hand as a hello, and she gave a polite nod. He sat next to her, knee bouncing as his nerves danced down his body.
“Well,” she started, turning her torso towards him, arching an eyebrow. “You wanted a meeting so here I am.”
Kakashi rubbed the back of his neck. “Right. Sorry, right.” He cleared his throat. Kakashi looked up and met her eyes. Her shoulders tensed, her posture stiff, as she laid her hands in her lap, clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white. Guilt snaked around his torso, making it hard to breathe.
Please hurry up so I can get out of here, she thought.
“I’m sorry.” He refrained from using her nickname, remembering how last time she told him to stop calling her that. “I’m so sorry that I brought ... him up.” She averted her eyes, already shining with unshed tears. He sucked in a breath. “I promise you, I am not stalking you. I’m ... I’m telling the truth about my clan’s secret. We can hear our soulmates’ thoughts.”
Okay, so he’s a psycho …
“I am not a psycho.”
She whipped her head up at him, glaring. “That was lucky. Anyone would’ve naturally thought of that after what you just said!”
He closed his eye and took a deep breath. His ears pricked at the sounds of birds cawing overhead, her breathing quickening, and the rustle of leaves in the wind. He opened his eye. “Pick a number.”
She scoffed, crossing her arms. “This is stupid.”
“I’m trying to prove it to you,” he said gently.
Peaches glowered. Three hundred and thirty-three.
“Three hundred and thirty-three,” he said.
Her teeth gritted. “Lucky guess.”
“Pick a color.”
Magenta.
“Magenta.”
“These are lucky guesses!”
He stopped himself from letting out a frustrated noise.
This is crazy. Am I crazy? Am I really going to believe this? But how else would he have known about Hiroto?
He looked at her out of the corner of his eye, his shoulder deflating. “Look, I wouldn’t be out here embarrassing myself if I didn’t believe this was true.”
She stared up at him, suddenly unsure of everything between them.
The desperate look on his face made her hesitate. “I know it’s crazy, I know. But I truly think this is real, whatever it is between us. I wanted to be honest.”
She swallowed, chewing on her bottom lip. Can I think about it? Give me some space for a while?
“Of course,” he murmured. “I’ll give you all the space you want.”
Her eyes widened at his words, and he flinched. Was he not supposed to answer her questions?
She sighed, shrugging. “Well, there are talking dogs, so I guess anything is possible.”
Kakashi’s eye squinted in a smile, albeit awkward.
Well, it’s a start.

Kakashi didn’t really like the way how one of the shinobi kept hanging around his Peaches.
Guy had told him once that some punk named Shuji started to pursue Peaches. His best friend insisted that Kakashi do something about it since he knew of Kakashi’s feelings towards the young woman. Unfortunately, Kakashi told him they weren’t dating and that it was none of his business.
But it sure made him vigilant on who else would approach her.
Kakashi noticed that after he stopped hanging around Peaches so much, other people would try to approach her. For what, he could only assume the worse, but she seemed to handle it with grace.
Except for this persistent Shuji fellow.
Anko had once ranted after a shinobi meeting how gross Shuji was. Their small group of friends stood outside the Hokage Tower. “It was like he couldn’t stop leering at the poor girl,” she said, disgust dripping from her tone. She crossed her arms and frowned, Asuma flicking his lighter for his cigarette as he nodded in agreement. “I walked her home to make sure the creep didn’t follow her.”
Kakashi stayed quiet, wondering if he had the ninken walk her home next time that it would be overkill. He was supposed to be giving her space, but it was clear this guy was a total creep. He was glad she had friends to protect her.
They all glanced at Kakashi, wondering why he hadn’t spoken up. No one had asked him why him and Peaches suddenly stopped hanging out, but Kurenai once tried to gently coax it out of her, and she dodged the question expertly.
As far as they knew, they had a little disagreement but wondered why it would cause such a wide berth of space. They supposed it didn’t matter for the meantime. Their main focus was keeping Peaches safe.
・┈・┈・
Kakashi had come home a day early from his S-rank mission.
He had tried to get it done as quickly as possible, the mission taking only six days instead of the seven as predicted. When he went to debrief the Hokage, he noticed Peaches avoiding eye contact. She kept shifting from one foot to the other.
His eye had assessed her to make sure she was okay, his shoulders finally relaxing when he could visibly see her in one piece. Even as he and the Third talked, he couldn’t help but feel the same discomfort that his Peaches was obviously feeling. Rubbing the back of his neck, he tried to tune out her thoughts. They were mostly just telling herself to not think of anything, probably so he couldn’t read into her thoughts.
Afterwards, he had ran into Asuma outside the Tower. “We’re all going to the bars tonight if you want to let off some steam,” he told Kakashi, grinning around his cigarette.
Kakashi declined, not wanting to make Peaches more uncomfortable as he was sure she would be joining that night with their friends.
Still, something in the back of his head protested his declination of the invite.
Maybe he should stop by just to make sure things were okay.
・┈・┈・
He chickened out when he stood in front of the bar.
Kakashi knew for sure his Peaches was in there, having had watched a while ago of her entering with Kurenai and Anko.
He paced in front of the building, avoiding people’s glances before he decided to jump onto the roof of a few buildings over. That way, he wouldn’t really intrude on Peaches’ thoughts, and he could still deliberate with himself if he was going to go in or not.
He ended up sitting up there for over an hour, head in his hands as he tried to calm the anxiety in his chest.
Something wasn’t right.
His fingers rove over his hair before tightening around some locks. He let out a frustrating noise from his throat. He looked up at the moon, now high in the sky, and squinted. Was he overreacting? Maybe this was some sort of withdrawal symptom from being away from Peaches for so long.
Okay, dramatic, but he severely missed her.
He stood up and walked over to the opposite end of the roof, thinking of heading home. This was pointless. He knew his friends were with her and he trusted them. He should just go home and try to relax.
As soon as he jumped onto the next roof, the hairs on the back of his neck rose. His head whipped around, eye wide.
… shi!
… ashi!
… KAKASHI!!!!
Kakashi, please! Please! If you can hear me, help! Please, he’s—!
Kakashi bent one knee to quickly summon his pack, slamming his palms on the rooftop floor. They all popped up at once. “Find her. Now!”
Immediately, they ran off, already knowing who he was talking about.
He knew the ninken would find her faster than him, and when Pakkun barked out that he found her, they all switched trajectory.
As soon as he landed in the alley where Pakkun located her, Kakashi’s skin burned with an intense rage he’d never experienced before.
His Sharingan spun as he pushed his headband up, his jaw locking in place as his murderous aura leaked out like whispers of fog.
She was being held up by a hand at her throat.
“HEY!”
The hand let go and she crumbled to the ground, gasping and coughing, holding a hand up to her throat. Tears slid down her cheeks, and one sob from her had his fury fueling his next move.
Shuji barely had time to cry out before Kakashi was on him in a second. The Sharingan spun once again, and Shuji’s eyes widened as Kakashi trapped him in a genjutsu. His fingers squeezed around the creep’s throat, satisfaction crawling down his spine as he heard him struggle to breathe just like he did with Peaches.
Nothing mattered in that moment except stopping him from ever hurting his soulmate ever again.
“Kakashi!”
Kakashi blinked out of it as he let go of Shuji’s neck. He turned his head, furious gaze ready to pinpoint his next target, when he saw Pakkun glaring at him. “We got it from here. You need to take her home.”
Peaches had her eyes shut, curled up in a ball with her hands over her ears.
Pakkun barked at the other ninken, rushing over to Shuji’s crumpled body. Kakashi had no idea how long he would be trapped under his genjutsu, but he knew the ninken would drag his body to the right authority to report what had happened. Knowing he had to corroborate the story, he used the shadow clone jutsu to make another of himself. He knew what to do as he walked over with the ninken to deal with that asshole.
Now, he turned towards his main priority. Kakashi cursed under his breath. He lifted himself from the ground and walked over to Peaches on the ground. Her teeth clenched, her body trembled as she kept her cries quiet, hands still over her ears.
“Hey, Peaches, hey,” Kakashi said softly, reaching out to one of her forearms. He touched it gently and her eyes flew open, tears clinging to her wet lashes. “It’s okay, you’re safe.”
Her face crumpled as she sat up, refusing to look over at where the creep’s body laid. Bull currently had blocked her view from it anyway. “Kashi,” she whimpered, reaching up to him.
He picked her up, bringing her close to his chest, his heart clenching. That was too close. Way too close for comfort.
She buried her face in his neck and sobbed, tears soaking into his shirt. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so-sorry!”
“You have nothing to apologize for,” he said, kissing the side of her head. “It’s okay, I gotcha. I gotcha. You’re safe.”
“Kakashi, Kakashi …”
“It’s okay, I’m here.” He pressed the side of his head to hers, eyes closed. “I’ll always be here.”
With that, he started the tread home with her still in his arms.
・┈・┈・
When they arrived at her place, she didn’t want to let go of him.
He could already see the bruises forming around her neck, making his anger spike at himself. He should’ve gotten there sooner, been faster, done something to prevent this!
She buried her face in his neck when he went to put her down and she shook her head vigorously.
Keeping her in his arms, he managed to unlock her door and enter, although it took a lot longer than usual. When he finally set her down on her feet, her hands clenched around his shirt.
She looked up at him, eyes still shining from tears. Please stay.
He brushed her hair back and nodded. “Okay,” he said softly. “I’ll stay.”
Kakashi locked her door and toed off his shoes next to hers. She started her nighttime routine, skipping a lot of things as she just wanted to slip into bed and forget this whole thing happened. Kakashi watched as she brushed her teeth, flitted around the room for some shorts and a t-shirt, making sure her window was locked and curtains drawn.
When she finally came out of her bathroom in her sleepwear, he gave a small smile.
“Sorry if this makes you uncomfortable,” she said quietly, not quite meeting his eyes as her cheeks reddened.
“It doesn’t,” he said honestly.
Keeping her safe was the least he could do.
As she got under her covers, she invited him on the bed, but he shook his head. He sat down on the floor, smoothing back her hair from her forehead. She closed her eyes at the action, relaxing further into her mattress. “Thank you for staying, Kakashi.” Her eyes opened with fresh tears in them. “I don’t deserve it.”
“That’s not true, Peaches,” he murmured, focusing on soothing her further. He ran his fingers through her hair. “You have every right to be angry with me. I wouldn’t have believed me either.”
Her lip wobbled as her eyes stayed on him. “I was so scared earlier, I didn’t know if you would hear me at all.” Tears rolled down her cheeks.
“I’ll always hear you, Peaches,” he whispered, rubbing her tears away with his thumb.
She reached up to press his palm firmly against her cheek, eyes closing. “Thank you.”
・┈・┈・
It was like no time had passed between them at all.
Kakashi figured that had to do with the whole soulmate thing. She was more skeptical about that, but he thinks she was coming more around that idea.
It didn’t take long for their first kiss to come next. And before anybody knew it, they had started dating naturally.
After proving that he really could read her mind, she huffed about it being unfair one night in her apartment.
“Well, it’s an invasion of privacy!”
“I’ll train myself to turn it off!”
“Is that even possible?”
He brought her wrist up to his clothed mouth and kissed it. “For you, I’d make it possible.” He paused, bending down a little to catch her eye. “I would never want you to feel uncomfortable around me.”
She gave a wobbly smile.
He smiled back, grabbing her chin gently. “That’s my girl.”
A blush exploded onto her cheeks and she moved away, wrapping her arms around herself as she exited the living room to make tea in the kitchen. “Smooth talker,” she murmured out of the corner of her mouth, turning her head to hide the smile that wanted to peek out.
He grinned, following her.
“Only for the best girl in the world.”
“Stop it!” she said, laughing when he came up behind her, planting kisses on her cheek.
He chuckled, ducking his head into her neck. “Never.”
・┈・┈・
Frustration could only build up so much before it exploded.
And she had finally broke.
Peaches had been a patient woman for as long as she could. Weeks had gone by since her and Kakashi started dating, and it has been so amazing so far. Except for one thing.
During heavy make out sessions, he wouldn’t let it go any further than she wanted. If she tried to reach for his hardness, he would redirect her hands and pin them down. Then, he would go down on her for what seemed like hours.
She loved when he would do that, coaxing orgasm after orgasm until she was bone tired. But whenever she wanted to return the favor, he would only grab her hands and kiss her knuckles and tell her another time. But that time never came. Even when she wanted to go all the way, he would dodge the subject and make a meal out of her until she nearly passed out.
His fingers were amazing, but it wasn’t enough.
She knew it was because of what had happened. Shuji had gotten the justice he deserved, and yes, sometimes she would shudder from disgust when he remembered the words he said to her and his hands on her, but that had nothing to do with Kakashi!
He once drunkenly confessed that he was scared to hurt her or trigger her. She thought it was sweet but enough was enough!
If she wanted to be fucked senseless, she was going to have to do it herself.
That’s when she had come up with a plan, and she invited him over to her place to do it.
“You trust me?” she said, biting her lip.
He nodded. “Of course.”
She smiled and then reached up, placing the blindfold over his eyes. Wary, he kept his breathing steady. This must be a surprise.
She grabbed his hands and started to lead him down the hall. Don’t think, don’t think, mind is blank, mind is blank …
Kakashi stiffened at her thoughts, but she never stopped pulling. He didn’t say anything as they entered her bedroom, candles lit dotting across various parts of the room. She grabbed his arms and situated him to sit on her bed. He almost frowned behind his mask as she kept chanting in her mind to keep her mind blank.
“It’s a surprise!” she said softly, giggling. She instructed him to lay down and he hesitated.
She brushed back his hair, fingernails grazing against his scalp. He shivered. “You trust me,” she repeated, but this time it wasn’t a question.
“Always,” he replied immediately. He moved so he laid down. Then she grabbed one of his wrists and something silky ribboned around his hand.
“Peaches—”
She gently shushed him, and his heart started to pound. This was no longer something she could hide but her thoughts washed over a sense of peace over his mind.
Trust me.
He took a deep breath when he heard her walk over to the other side and tying his other hand.
He’d never been this vulnerable before and blindfolded at that.
“Comfortable?” she said quietly.
“Curious,” he mumbled back.
A giggle and then the bed shifted. She tried not to topple over when she climbed over his lap. Her hands steadied themselves against his chest and he lifted his chin.
“Peaches, what are you—”
She quickly put a finger over his clothed lips. “Hush. It’s my turn to speak.”
Kakashi pursed his lips together, trying desperately not to react with her weight on top of him. Her bottom rested over his lap, the plush feeling making something stir within him.
“You know, I’ve been a very patient woman, Kakashi,” she started. “I know you’ve been trying to be respectful and careful with me.”
Kakashi stayed quiet, afraid to interrupt her, especially since he couldn’t see her.
Her fingers slipped underneath his shirt and slowly moved upwards, shuffling the fabric along. Her fingertips dragged along his skin, goosebumps erupting from her touch. He sucked in a sharp breath as she kept going.
She squirmed in his lap, and it was over. Within seconds, he was hard and biting his lip underneath his mask. She knelt over him, her lips brushing against his ear.
His eyes widened at her next words. She whispered, voice full of lust, “But I want you to fuck me. I want you to do what you’ve been wanting to for weeks now. I trust you. I want you.”
At that, she rolled her hips, putting the tiniest bit of pressure on his cock, making him hiss out loud. She pulled back, sitting back on her full weight again, and she moved her hips again, a strangled moan stuck in his throat.
“But you’ve been so mean, Kashi.” A pout could be heard in her voice. “Every time I’ve tried to start something, you stop me, and it hurts. You hurt my feelings.”
“No, I wasn’t … I wasn’t trying to …” he rasped, voice barely audible as he didn’t know what to focus on. Her words or the way her warmth covered his hardness. He lifted his hips to get more friction, but she pushed down on his chest as if to say stay. He stopped, a whine pressed against behind his lips.
“But you did. And now you must reap what you sow.”
She leaned over again, kissing over his mask and then kissed lower. Her lips touched his bare skin, lips grazing down his chest to his stomach. His skin fluttered at the touch, and she kissed around his bellybutton before going more south.
He was quietly chanting her name, her fingers slipping underneath the waistband of his pants. He helped her take them off as he lifted his hips and then kicked them off as she kept pulling at them. Her hands smoothed up his thighs and his breath hitched as her fingers stopped before his twitching cock. “Look at how hard you are.” One of her fingers traced over his tip, precum wetting the fabric of his boxers.
A low moan released from his lips, letting himself sink back into the bed. He was muttering something under his breath, but she ignored him as her finger kept teasing him, joyfully watching his cock jump at each touch.
Then she pulled down his boxers, finally springing his thick cock free. She took note of the vein running down his length, the precum leaking over his tip, and the warmth of it as she wrapped a hand around it. Kakashi whipped his head to the side, groaning into the inside of his arm. She pumped him a few times.
“I’ve been practicing, you know. Been using toys to stretch myself for you, so you don’t need to hold back.”
He bucked his hips, but she squeezed his member as way to tell him to stop moving. He complied, biting his lip hard as she kept talking, barely moving her hand.
Her hand left him, cool air rushing in to take her warmth away. The bed dipped as she moved, doing something, but he didn’t know what. Only when he felt her get on top of him did he know. His vision suddenly came back as she took off his blindfold.
She wore a lacy red lingerie set, the bra perfectly encasing her breasts in a way that had his mouth fall open. His eyes traced lower, her panties hugging her hips perfectly, the cut more of a bikini style than anything. His mouth salivated as he caught the wet patch between her legs when she shifted. She reached over to the headboard, half sitting up on her knees as his cock rubbed against her panty-covered pussy.
“Oh, fuck,” he hissed.
She moaned, throwing her head back, hair falling behind her like a waterfall. He admired her throat as she did so, her hips moving against his cock. The wetness of his precum and her panties slicked him up. His Sharingan spun wildly at the sight. “Peaches, Peaches …”
She didn’t speed up, her pace painstakingly slow, making him suffer the way he made her suffer all those nights.
“You need to know what you’ve put me through,” she gasped, sitting down on him, rubbing his cock between her pussy lips as best as she could through the fabric.
How many times after he left did she grab his shirt he let her borrow once and buried her face in it while she fucked herself with her fingers? How many times did she cry because it wasn’t enough, will never be enough without him?
“Oh, g-gods,” he moaned, hearing her confess all this in her mind.
How many times did she have dreams about him and feeling crazy because she felt like he didn’t want her?
He pants, out of breath, “Of course I did … I do! You drive me crazy, baby.”
She kept going despite his own words out loud.
How many times has she imagined this exact scenario?
She lifted herself on her knees again, reaching down with one hand to move her panties to the side, once again rubbing herself on his length.
Dizzied with arousal, Kakashi pulled at his restraints, a desperation clawing at his chest like no other. He needed to show her that he wanted her just as well, that she drove him just as insane, that he loved her.
She was right.
Who was he to deny her of such pleasure that only her soulmate could provide? Who was he to reject her advances as if he could decide for her what’s in her best interest?
He’d been an idiot thus far.
Kakashi’s head fell back as soon as her heat surrounded him, and she slowly sunk down onto him. A noise escaped his throat, and he about lost his mind.
She bent over and rolled down his mask, kissing him on the mouth. They both moaned into each other, and she swiveled her hips slowly, making sure he felt every single movement.
“Please,” he rasped, eyes hazy when they pulled away. “Please.”
She ran her hands down his chest, her cheeks flushed, her mind dizzied from the power. “Please what?”
“Let me take you, let me make you mine,” he said. He pulled against the restraints, and she lifted herself up and he cursed.
She said nothing, cheeks flushed, as she kept a steady pace, driving him insane. He groaned, head thrown back as he tried to control himself from breaking her headboard so he could free himself. “F-feels so good, so good,” she whimpered.
Kakashi’s eyes bleared open, the vision before him imprinting in his mind. He needed to remember every single second of this moment, the way her breathing hitched, the way her breasts bounced with every movement, and the way her eyes lusted over him. His hips snapped upward, and she let out a tiny squeal, falling over and catching herself, hands on either side of his head.
He reached upward to take a nipple of hers into his mouth, tongue swiping over the pebbled peaks. She let out a noise, her hips stopping movement for a moment. “Kakashi!” she said.
Finally, her arms shaky as she tiredly held herself up, she reached one up to untie one hand. His hand snatched up to her other breast, pinching the nipple.
She switched arms, finally pulling at the last string. She barely got done when he flipped them over. Her eyes widened as he slipped out from the action, her face heating up as he took over her vision. Instinctively, her hands went up to his shoulders.
His heavy-lidded eyes briefly flickered to her lips before he leaned in, pressing their lips together. She moaned into the kiss, feeling his hard cock against her thigh, their mixed juices smearing against her skin. She needed him back inside.
Just before she could say anything, he pulled back to reach between him to reinsert himself again.
She hissed at the feeling, back arching a bit. Her fingernails bedded themselves into his skin and his eyes rolled to the back of his head as he sunk back in. “Holy shit, holy shit,” he breathed, burying his face in her neck as he started to pump into her.
She whimpered, wrapping her arms around him, legs snaking around his waist. “Kashi, Kashi, Kashi …!” she squeaked with every thrust. It punched the air out of her lungs but the pleasure that it brought her overwhelmed all her senses.
“That’s it, just let go for me, baby,” he said, pulling back as he watched her face.
Tears rimmed her eyes, shiny under the candlelight glow. Her lips parted as she panted, little staccato noises escaping each time he pushed forward again, her warmth like a vice grip around him, spasming around him.
“Baby, baby, come for me,” he begged, plunging himself deeper into her, her legs kicking out as a strangled moan poured out of her mouth.
He grabbed her hands and twined their fingers together. He locked eyes with her, and he saw nothing but love.
He pressed his forehead against her, breathing against her lips. “I love you.”
She whimpered something unintelligible before pressing her lips against his.
He held off as long as he could. He could’ve sworn he heard her say the same thing back, his delusion overtaking his mind. Imagining hearing those words tumbled him over the edge.
She let go just a few seconds later, legs tightening around his waist as she moved her hips faster against him. The moan that slipped through her lips made the back of his head tingle immensely. His body shivered, kissing her more deeply as if to devour the sound, keeping it for himself only.
When she stopped moving, he pulled back. They were breathing heavily, watching each other through heavy lidded eyes.
A dream-like smile spread across her face.
“Wow.”
He chuckled, leaning down to kiss her once more. “Yeah, wow,” he agreed, breathless.
She giggled, cupping his face to press her lips against his lips again.
I love you, they both thought.
・┈・┈・
Sunlight filtered through the windows that made Kakashi's eyelashes flutter open.
Peaches? he thought groggily. He reached beside himself, patting the empty space next to him. His eyes flew open at that, lifting his head to look around. Panic flowed through him for a second, wondering why she had left. Then when he heard kitchenware cling in the background, the smell of breakfast catching up to his nose, his shoulders relaxed. He fell back onto the bed, rubbing a hand over his face.
“I’m right here,” a voice said, and he looked over to see his Peaches.
She stood there, biting back a smile as she leaned against his doorframe, grabbing onto her opposite arm. His eyes dragged down her form, and it seemed like she was in nothing but one of his shirts, the hem meeting the middle of her thighs.
He smiled softly.
“Breakfast is ready,” she said quietly.
I’m the luckiest guy in the world, he thought. She’s perfect.
She blinked at him, a blush tinging her cheeks, spreading across her nose. She glanced at his lips, and he tilted his head.
“Kashi …”
“Hm?”
She kept staring at his lips and his palms started to get clammy.
She’s making me nervous. Can she tell? he wondered.
Her grin spread across her face before her hands covered her mouth.
Before he could ask what was up, he heard her in his mind.
Am I really making you nervous?
His eyes widened, and she laughed delightfully.
・┈・┈・
Testing, testing … one, two, three …
Ha! I can hear you, but it takes a bit of concentration!
Oh wow, so possibly there is no limit to how far we can reach each other? Kakashi rose an eyebrow to himself as he arranged a few logs to start a fire for their squad.
Sakura and Naruto bickered in the background, and Sasuke rolled his eyes as he sat on a tree stump as he waited for the fire pit to be ready to fire up.
You better wish because I’m going to be sooooo annoying! Her giggle echoed in his mind, and he couldn’t help the soft smile behind his mask.
I wouldn’t want it any other way, sweetheart.
Pshh, you smooth talker!
Aren’t I always?
A small chuckle escaped his lips as he stood up from his squat, too distracted by his girlfriend to realize the noise he made.
“Are you laughing at us, Kakashi-sensei?!” Naruto yelled from a distance, rubbing his noggin where no doubt Sakura hit.
Sasuke eyed him suspiciously but then used his fire jutsu to stare the fire.
“Maybe …” Kakashi finally said, the fire crackling and lighting up his face. He squinted his eye shut in a smile.
Later that night, on the cusp of falling asleep, he heard her again. The gentle whisper of her voice floated in his head, almost making him think he was already dreaming.
Hey, are you asleep?
No, what’s going on? he asked, blinking his eyes sleepily.
She giggled. You liar, you were totally falling asleep!
He turned in his sleeping bag, the full moon on display. He put his arms behind his head. And whose fault is it that I’m awake? he teased. Then, But what’s going on?
A long pause.
Babe?
If even possible, his whole body flushed hot as if he could feel what she was experiencing. The feeling so strong, he blinked himself awake to see if he was hallucinating.
Iloveyou.
Hm?
His cheeks flushed deeply, his heart picking up speed. Wait, did he hear right?
Please don’t make me say it again, it’s already embarrassing enough to say it out loud! That’s why I had to wait til you left!
Now for sure he knew he didn’t hear wrong. His grin widened behind his mask, heat curling in his stomach at the words she rushed into his mind. I’m being serious. I didn’t quite hear that.
She groaned into his mind, and he could imagine that she buried her face in her pillow out of pure embarrassment. He could practically hear the pout in her voice. I said … I love you.
That heat rolled over his body again, cheeks flushed for sure. Was this … new? Or was this just him?
I love you too, sweetheart.
Something fluttered in his chest, head dizzied with desire for a second before he heard her squealing in his mind. He couldn’t help the huff of laugh he released, trying to stay quiet.
You womanizer! she practically laughed.
He softly snorted. I beg your pardon. I do not go around declaring my love to just any woman.
Oh, yeah? Then to who? she teased right back.
My soulmate of course.
A pause.
And then more squealing. W-Womanizer!!
Kakashi’s eyes slid shut, sleep fogging up his mind. He reached out one last time.
I’m a monogamous man, darling. Didn’t you know? Only for the best girl in the world.
He heard her laugh again in his mind, and he couldn’t contain the grin freeing itself from underneath his mask. Ha ha, stop it!
His eye fluttered shut, getting his last glimpse of the moon, before he replied.
Never.
