More about the performers:
Il abanico is an Indie/Experimental band created in 2010 by Nicolás Losada (guitar) and Juliana Ronderos (Voice). They expose their personalities with innovative melodies, an upbeat rhythm section and unorthodox guitars. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, this duo spent fall of 2010 composing what would become their first work “Crossing Colors” (February 2011). A 5 songs EP, recorded in well renowned Studio G (temporal studio for the Black Keys) in Brooklyn, NY.Established in Boston MA, and playing around the east coast area, Il abanico started to play with a full band. The new band members captured the attention of many blogs and interviews because of their diverse nationalities. Il abanico has grown rapidly, and in September 2011 they toured their way across the US from Boston to LA where they have now settled. It was a successful 18-date tour which included cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, Austin, San Diego and Los Angeles, amongst others. Having played over 60 shows this year, il abanico is currently living and working in LA, performing and writing material for their new album.

Sara Azriel is a singer/songwriter born and raised on the shores of Lake Michigan into a large musical family. Upon graduating from Boston’s Berklee College of Music in 2001, Sara moved to Los Angeles where she spent the next seven years performing and recording, as well as teaching music in film industry/celebrity homes. In both Boston and LA, she has worked with countless musicians and performed for crowds of thousands. Sara's vocal and songwriting influences are eclectic—jazz, pop, ragtime, indie, soul, gospel—she continues to be an avid explorer of music, old and new. Sara recently moved back to the East Coast to produce her debut solo record.
“I explore sound within mostly traditional song formats. I like the comforting elements that popular music provide--the swell of a gospel hymn, the lilt of a ragtime number, the feeling of longing from a pop ballad, and the angelic realms of stacked vocal harmonies. I also enjoy the quirky, the off-center, the pleasant surprise. Although I come from a long line of story-tellers, I make music from the inside-out.” SA

Arborea
Arborea is a musical duo from Maine, formed in the summer of 2005 by wife and husband Shanti Curran and Buck Curran. Since 2007 they've toured extensively throughout the US, UK, and Europe, curated two various artists compilations; We are All One, In the Sun: A Tribute to Robbie Basho and Leaves of Life, and released several full length albums including their latest Red Planet which made Rolling Stone 'Best Under-the-Radar Albums of 2011', Top Vinyl Pick in Mojo, Portland Phoenix Top Ten Albums of 2011, Uncut Magazine's Top 100 Albums of 2011, and Editors Top Pick in Guitar Player Magazine. Portland Mercury writer Ned Lannamann recently described their music…”If you could take a shiver and slow it down so that it lasted for 50 minutes, you’d have Red Planet, the fourth album from Arborea. It’s folk music that runs through your veins ice cold, but in a way that’s so compelling and irresistible you can’t help be moved by it. Red Planet is released by Portland label Strange Attractors Audio House, but Arborea actually hail from a spot much closer to the other Portland; the husband-and-wife duo of Shanti and Buck Curran live in Maine, a state of rugged beauty, endless forests, summertime bugs the size of hummingbirds, and a cold and rocky coastline. Shanti’s voice rises above sparse instrumental backing like a cool fog, and while the pair has earned comparisons to acts like Pentangle and Alela Diane, to me Arborea sounds utterly unique and entirely captivating.”
