Pictured above: An African American history calendar from Hilda Mason's Statehood collection, which is housed at the DC Public Library. Each month has a theme and it collectively celebrates the different contributions of African Americans. I believe it was made by children at the Valley Christian Improvement Association.

I feel like we should talk about how Jessica Wicks Newport called Ben Sugar Butt.  Will Leslie ever find out?  How would she feel?  Would she feel like only she can talk abut Ben's butt or would they join forces and gab about Ben's butt for hours?
