She’s Alive [Self Para]
Jiyong was grateful to have the day off on such a beautiful, clear day. People watching was a favorite past time at the park as he had been practicing his drawing skills in his new sketchbook lately. The drawings were definitely amateur but he firmly believed that practice made perfect.
His phone vibrated and he placed his pencil down, smiling at a little fluffy dog that passed by with its owner. After plucking his phone from his pocket, he swiped the lockscreen open and read the message.
It was from Levi.
Previously, Jiyong hired the assassin to help him find the whereabouts of his mother, IF she was even still alive. Was she in the city? Was she in another country? Maybe in a hospital?
The questions had been swarming Jiyong’s mind for weeks, maybe months. He hadn’t seen his mother since he ran away from home at the age of 16. The last time they were together, she turned a blind eye to the abuse he suffered from his father. By now, Jiyong had assumed the reason could have been because he was abusing her too, but until he knew for sure, resentment still filled his heart towards her.
He read the text from Levi over and over until the words sunk into his conscience:
“She’s Alive”
The inspiration to sketch had evaporated from his spirit. The sudden urge to find her was overwhelming and equally frightening. Although his father had been dead for a few years, he couldn’t shake the hate that continued to sting his heart. Would she even want to see him now? There was only one way to find out.
After receiving more information about her location, Jiyong thanked Levi and sat silently for several long minutes, letting time tick by.
“A flower shop... a flower shop...” He whispered like a mantra to himself, picturing the different shops in the location given. He had a gut feeling which shop it would be. The shop his aunt used to own. Perhaps she still owned it.
A half hour had slipped by before Jiyong realized how long he had been sitting for. He collected his things in a hurry and scrambled to find a cab. Curiosity always got the better of him. But this time, it could potentially ruin his entire life.
“Take me to Lee’s Flower Arrangements..”
